      • Mornin all. Does the year of the rooster start today? I have a Chinese in-law who sent me a happy new year rooster on faceache.

        • Am stuck in bed. Woe is me, and not just because there is no heating upstairs here in Italy. Nephew gave me & sister-in-law something very akin to norovirus.

          Am proper feek and weeble.

            • Thanks - on the plus side, the Italian health service is wonderful. Doctors are friendly and come out to you in the middle of the night with no quibble and much sympathy.

                • Get better soon, sparrow.

More rain in the night but now turned bright and windy (the weather, that is). The ground is sodden and puddles are no longer draining, so I hope the wind keeps up and it starts to dry out a bit.

Otherwise, all good. Trying not to get too excited about the start of the coming season, especially as I still have a lot of digging to do. Looks like I'll be playing catch-up, again...

                  Have a jolly weekend, everyone.

My brother rang to say that mum's hearing aid had broken and she couldn't hear the phone. I thought I should ring her anyway so we had this long one-sided conversation, her telling me to speak up and I shout back. Eventually she said that her son had taken her hearing aid to be repaired. She had no idea that she was talking to me even though I'd been shouting Mum, its me etc. Maybe she thought I wanted to fix her computer

                            • Good evening all. Just back in from my pitch and putt. We were just finishing up when the heavens opened and the course was white with hail within a few minutes. It was seriously cold but good to be out and about and seeing the evenings gettting brighter.
