  • When we moved to our present location we did several alterations before we moved in. We took out the bathtub and replaced it with a glassed in shower unit. A few months ago we needed to replace the plastic squeegee strip at the bottom of the glass doors. My son lifted off the first door and I changed over the plastic strip and he replaced the door. As he was removing the second door it just disintegrated in his hands. We were still finding pieces of glass weeks afterwards - it's like dropping a Duralex glass on a stone floor, pieces everywhere. As veggiechicken writes, it's difficult to step into a bath as you get older, there's a greater chance of slipping.

    • Good evening just finished grouping the tiles, and now planning putting the flooring down, how can the simple statement of "I think we should replace the doors for the kitchen cabinets, and oh, I would like more storage" lead to so much work, what really gets me is the fact that I used to work 12hr. shifts then come home and do work in the house I wonder why I can't do that now, perhaps I should get a job, Well is every one ready for the wild weather that's forecasted I hope you all keep safe and warm and if you have snow make something to enter the snowman comp. Time to get ready for bed, so I will wish you all a good night. Goodnight

              • Sorry about your fencing BM.

Am sad that my poor polytunnel got hit by storm but it should still be usable after I do some diy repairs on it.

Yes if you don't need to go out then best to stay indoors. Storm Doris is worse than I thought it might be. Things can be replaced, people can't.

Love hearing about the chatting potatoes LOL

And the sun is out which means I can go relax in the sunny window with a hot cuppa and a good book

                Stay safe everyone.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                • Morning wet and windy here, looks like the silver birch tree's lost a lot of twigs there's plenty of them in the garden, so long as that's all that falls of.

                    I think not, NS
Its a tad windy here The pond liner covering one of the chicken runs is flapping free but there's netting underneath it so its not disastrous. If it flaps off, it can stay off until the weather improves.
Stay safe everyone and hope your structures remain standing

                        • Left hand fence is in a bad way. This wind might finish it off. It's not mine but I've been patching it.

The dogs aren't keen on going out either.

                          • Afternoon all - I think we bucked the trend and had Doris to visit early. Yesterday was awfully windy, but its pretty normal today. Looking at the news some places have it really bad. Stay safe everyone

                            • Only one (small) panel blown out on my plastic GH up at the plot and I managed to rescue it - my pallet wood pinning down seems to have done the trick. Looks like all the other sheds and pollytunnels up there are all ok too.
I think people on the site have finally learnt that if it isn't nailed down really well it will get blown down...
