  • The snowdrops are ordered

Well I am a happy galanthophile.

Snowdrops all ordered and not as expensive as it could have been.

And I got all the ones I wanted bar one and that was the expensive one. All to the good really as the rarer ones come down in price after a little while.

One of the snowdrops I got this time kept selling out before I could order it and this time it is cheaper and available.

I hope I can be as careful at the snowdrop open day at the end of the month.

No I will put it out of mind, and being very forgetful that will not be hard!!!

And then when the parcel comes it will be like a surprise.

The bulbs come in the green and usually have the flower on so it is exciting to see what they look like in flower rather than in the catalogue.

Will you plant them in the ground? Or pot them up?

I will find a spot in the garden for them, probably in the snow drop borders.
Then I will dig out a deepish hole and put in a deep plastic plant pot that has had its base cut away.

Then fill it with a mixture of new John Innes top soil, and some grit and bonemeal then I plant the bulb with the magic words, 'grow you little beggar grow'. And usually they do.

I also top the pot with some sharp gravel to deter the ****dy squirrels.
