          What about "hear" the amount of time I had to explain the difference between here & hear and there & their even with the little rule about if there are two "e"'s in the word, like are in the word eye then it's one you are looking for or at, and hear is just ear with a "h" to Mrs C and she still gets them mixed up.

            Were and where are pronounced the same in Liverpool.
            Used to drive OH bonkers when he worked there!

            I love hearing the French mispronounce English words...always puts a smile on my face..it sounds to sweet!

                I remember a good few years back when I was in the Services serving in Germany, and out on exersice bumped into a little local villager, and when I asked if he spoke English, got the reply "A bittle lit"

                Always gives me a little chuckle!

                  That's where my pronunciation comes in handy as I say the "a" as in mass. Not as in are.

                    Toe as in tow and couch grass as in a sofa unless it's growing faster than I can remove it, in which case I call it after someone who serves drinks in a tavern!
