thank you, will keep you posted...............Plan A, hopefully sell pretty quick, estate agent reckons it will, we've already started on the loft. OMG why oh why have we kept so much carp! We've been looking there's definately property out there. There was one that's just sold that would have been perfect so if we can get one like that we'll be happy. If we have to live in the van for a while that's no problem, at least we'll be cash buyers when any come up.

Glad to hear you are braving it and fingers crossed it all goes well. Love the caravan idea so you can buy what you want on your terms.

I'm going to be the miserable, cynical, pessimistic one here to say that are you sure you should be basing your decision of a lifetime on what people on an internet forum who don't know you or your situation advise you to do ?

There is lots of good advice here, but make sure you base your decision on what friends and family say - they know your personalities and detailed finances.

We did a similar thing moving out of London, and haven't regretted it for a moment, but we could never afford to reverse the move - we can't afford to go back.

Work out the worst case scenarios and make sure the move will still work. What if one of you dies and the other is left alone in a new area without friends yet. Or needs accommodation that a caravan can't offer ?

Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Having said that, I'd still go for it - you'll almost certainly regret not doing it !!

I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm - just trying to be devil's advocate here....

Delighted to hear you made the decision.,the fact that you have the van to live in if anything goes amiss or if you have to wait for the right property is a big advantage.
I wish you both the very best of luck.

Wish you all the very best with your new chapter in life, oh too often we live to work and miss the opportunity to follow our dreams.

You could possibly ask the question on a 'London City Bankers' forum to see what they say.
Or possibly pick a 'neutral' forum about I dunno, whatever your favourite caravan site is or motorbikes or whatnot- you'll get a certain amount of bias on this site (I'm not a statistician but what do they know)

Having said that - go for it.
                            (and good luck either way)

I dunno - my internet is not generally bad but I need to click refresh a bit more here - good luck and ignore the banking forum

We have the blessing of all the family although they don't know our financial situation and neither do we plan on telling them! Where we're planning on going is very familiar to us and will take us closer to one son and grand daughter and also to some lifelong friends of ours.
