After viewing some threads and posts I wonder if you met a stranger in a supermarket, or wherever, what do you think the topic of conversation would be, would it be the cost of food, the quality of products, food, clothing, other goods etc. the weather, people's behaviour, the curvature of the earth, or any other subject, but remember its with a stranger.

You don't always upset/offend people when you talk to strangers Some of them are lonely and just want to chat. I always make time to listen. I've even been thanked for listening - then I give them a cwtch(hug).
I hate meeting strangers at parties and having to make polite conversation - but the supermarket is different. Nobody's out to impress there

Not had many conversations in the supermarket most people are in a bad mood just rushing around, but in my local butchers and greengrocers it's a whole different world. We chat about anything from the produce to whats going on around us, overall small shops are much friendlier places.Location....East Midlands.

My conversations in supermarkets are limited as I hate shopping, If anything, mine is a bit of a Victor Meldrew melt down with the self scan tills.
When it comes to shopping I am a right miserable..................Last edited by Greenleaves; 04-04-2017, 06:10 PM.

Round here it can start with almost anything, but at least 70 % of the time it includes;
"Ah, so you must know so-&-so?"
"Is s/he the one over ??? way, relates to doo-da?"
"No, you're thinking of thingamijig - I mean the wo/man with the (identifying feature), you know, they used to work at xxxx with yyyy, but now they're at zzzz. Their children/partner/dog goes to ffffff"
"Oh, you mean ddddd?"
"Yes, that's the one!"
"I don't know them but I know their 12th cousin 7 times removed neighbours cats previous owners....."
I get confused fairly easily. ......Another happy Nutter...

I feel like I only come to life on paper and have written extensively since I was young - first with some rather silly short stories, then getting published in amateur horror and writing magazines and then websites as soon as I got online. I have several long-standing pen friends who I email and I am lucky to be able to write online. I really don't know what else I would do if I didn't have that.
I'd love to have someone else's ease with conversation but I don't so I make the most of what I do haveLOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Crippling shyness is something of a trait amongst my family. I was shy up to about the age of 17 - for various reasons I forced myself to not be shy any longer - now I'm probably a PITA but definitely all the better for it.sigpic
