Ouch! Did they give you anything for the swelling? Or do you have to wait for the antibiotics to kick-in?

Something bit my foot the other week when I was wearing flip-flops around the yard. It only hurt for half a day, but fortunately it wasn't any worse. I always wear tennis shoes now.

We have something round our way (i'm told???) called The Blandford Fly, and it is a nasty little biter! I must google it, just in case they were pulling my leg, as it was over a glass (or two) in the local that this became topic of the evening. spesh' as it caused much laughter when we were told of it flying up old mrs......skirt and bitting her on the...... and she wears no....
You can see why I am a little dubious of the 'Blandford Fly' now.
ps Mrs..... is of the old school type, you would never have thought.......

You said it, mate. A man wearing flip flops DESERVES to get bitten on the foot. Heck! I'd say the same about anyone wearing pink crocs, too!

Anyone know any realllly good insect repellants?
Skin so soft by Avon is one of the best.More so than DEET.

My daughter was advised to use it when she worked in the Amazon jungle as she wasn't able to take her anti-malarial tablets. Not one bite-even though other people were nibbled like crazy..... but you've got to use plenty. You won't have smelly feet either!!!
Horsey peeps have been using it for years against horseflies, and it works a treat!

Looks sore Wayne hope you're being pampered!

I've stopped wandering through our neighbour's field in sandles when one of our cats who hunts there came back with a MASSIVE tick on his face....yuck...yuck....yuck.......

Be advised that Skin so soft doesn't always work! I used it in Mexico and it seemed to work a treat (only got a couple of bites) but then on a trip to the Dom. Rep I got eaten alive! I had to use the Expedition 50 that Scarey has recommended.

Let me guess, you're more a socks'n'sandals kinda guy!?

I'd agree with the Crocs thing though...

I'm not going to stop wearing flip flops - have been for years, and I do most of the year. I'll just have to get used to getting bitten once or twice a year. I'll soon build up resistance.

I'm a girl, Wayne (last time I looked!).

I'd say the same thing about men or women wearing crocs. They remind me of those jellybean shoes in the 80s!! I'm not the only one to think it, either...

Ah, sorry. Anyone that calls me mate automatically makes me think dude - just how it is with me, unless/until I know otherwise.

One could argue anyone saying "mate" to another dude DESERVES to be called a man...

I'm a member of a group on Facebook called something like "I Don't Care How Comfy Crocs Are, You Look Like A Dumbass!", it has 902,949 members

Soz Su, you keep on wearing your Crocs if you like 'em, each to their own! I have to say, I'd probably laugh at a 6½ ft bloke wearing a pair of flip-flops to the allotment too. Pool wear? Maybe. Allotment wear? No.
