I've never had much luck growing celery from seed, but someone (probably on here) said that if your shop bought plant has a bit of root on it its worth sticking it in water to see if it will grow.
Seems to be working - and that's now one veg. that I can take off my "can't do" list (which is embarrassingly long)sigpic

Knew it was a stick of summat!
I've grown celery from stumps in water. Planted it out when well rooted and stalky - then it went to seed! So pick it young
Next challenge is to grow cabbages from sprouts
