Fairy House

I made the very stupid offer of making a dolls house into a Fairy house for charity. Said house was delivered and I have about 4 weeks to convert it. Never mind the fact that it's huge and not what I was expecting, I'll use some imagination. My real problem is that lights will make the fairy experience. The house is to be installed in local woodland (temporarily I hope) so will have no access to mains electricity.

I thought of a small solar panel but the nearest place for this is Maplins. My experience of them over the last few years isn't encouraging. I find their sales staff unbelievingly patronising and rude. I know I'm considerably upwards of 50 but I probably know more about electronics than the sales team have forgotten, but I need them to help locate the parts I need and as I've never done this before what lights would be suitable. They aren't all on the shelves and a lot of specialist stuff is over the counter at the back of the store.

Do any of you lot have any advice on wiring a dolls house using a small solar panel.

How about a string of solar lights already connected to a solar panel. Most cheap shops sell them for £5-10.
Of course, if the woodland is very shady, you won't have enough sun for solar lights anyway!

Theres a link here & they've used solar panels on a dolls house,if it is too shady in the woods battery powered lights last a while.

Thanks. That helps a lot. I actually had some cheapo Christmas lights that would have been ideal but it's another of those things that my daughter chucked out.

My right hand next door neighbour uses a small solar panel to power her garden lights. She hangs it over my fence to catch the sun. It's a bit of a cheek but harmless.
