DW, its a kindle fire HD 8 that I am using but other than the calendar there is no organiser app on it, though there are plenty of organisers for free downloading. As for not understanding what VC was on about,,,,,, well!!!!, and then Jay-ells contribution ??? I think its something that the Mods do, confuse me

Calendar was the first type of item that came to mind. Contacts, if it exists for the FIRE, is another item I could use. A free-format TO DO list app might be nice too but the Calendar app might already handle it. I suppose a NOTE app would do it. I'll see if Amazon has these for the FIRE and check on other organizer apps. Thanks rary!

I don't think there's a rule that mods can't have fun too. I know I certainly have fun here. (Though I am beginning to regret asking about the random use of 47.) And then the 'what VC was on about,,,,,, well!!!!' You got that right!!!
I use Google+. That way I can access the contacts, diary, etc on my phone, Kindle Fire HD,Android Phone, Android Tablet and PC with the right apps/web page.
I don't use the Fier that often because alot of the apps I want aren't available directly as a Kindle package and it's a bit of a faf converting them from the android phone to work with it (and even then not all do)

The days of fixed phones and using pencil and paper was much simpler, though with the likes of VC and people of her era it would be slate and chalk,,,, I have been told
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers
Have a look at this: Getting Started - Bullet Journal
You can use the principles with any kind of notebook. I've found it quite useful. Won't handle contacts, but you'd probably want a paper back-up of those anyway even if you had an electronic contact app.
Well, I bit the bullet and ordered a Fire HD 8 to play with and see if it does what I need. Jay-ell mentioned Google+ which brings up the topic of cracking the Fire so you can use the Google play store and install apps from there. Have any of you done that?
I've seen youtube videos on how to do it for prior versions of Fire and it will probably work on this one too.
Before I go messing with the Fire so I can install from the Google play store I'll see if Amazon has apps that suit my needs. Some fairly basic stuff should take care of me.
This stuff is new to me. I'm an old IBM mainframe guy that doesn't use a smart phone or tablet and is not familiar with Android OS but I should be able to pick it up fairly quickly. (I still think of PCs as appliances like a toaster or microwave oven. They're not 'real' computers (unless they're running UNIX or Linux) but I've been using them for decades (since1984). I suppose I'm just a dinosaur (that worked with AT&T, Bell Labs, and IBM). )

One day, we'll all go back to using pen and paper because its more secure, less likely to crash and, unless you mislay it, won't lose your information.
Unfortunately, very few people will know how to write just as some people can't add up without a calculator..........and the postal service will be extinct because everyone has been communicating electronically.
Imagine a life without books
So don't mock the elderly, rary, you may need us one day

Sorry - the way I've done some installs is to have something installed on my phone. back it up and put that onto the Kindle.

Rary really longs for the good old communications he had as a lad at Pettakere Primary - Bison, Bison, Woolly Mammoth, spear chucker

Ooooh! Fire HD 8 and Bluetooth speaker while listening to radio from almost anywhere in the world. Not tied down to my PC. Nice! ... (I can use earbuds while away from home.)
Evernote, Calendar, and Contacts may take care of all or nearly all of my organizer needs. This is a fairly nice setup.
When I have time I'm going to watch some episodes of Grantchester that I missed Sunday. They showed 4 in a row since the new season begins soon and I didn't have time.
