Holiday

I had planned to go on holiday starting this weekend. My children aren't happy about it. I've never been to Scotland so my plan was to drive up to Cumbria and visit the family and then up to Carlisle followed by Hadrians Wall. Then a gentle meander up the west coast to Stornaway to see some friends followed by heading eastward to Edinburgh and south to see family in north east England.

My children want me to go on a coach tour. I can't find one that goes to my itinerary (surprise,surprise) or is longer than 8 days. And outrageously expensive. I've decided to not tell them about it and disappear off in the spring instead.

Annoyed or what. I usually have 2 holidays a year and I haven't been anywhere this year. I can't take a late holiday abroad as my passport has run out and trying to renew it online is a nightmare on it's own.

No midgies now and you should beat the worst of the weather, only glitch is the ferry to Stornaway often gets cancelled due to rough seas.

I would just go. I love the Cumbria and Northumberland area to drive through some fantastic scenery. I loved Dumfries and Galloway.

Janie if I'm allowed to give you one piece of advice it would be GO FOR IT!!!

For passports I have always gone to the passport office and done it directly. Takes about 4 hours. Does cost more but by the time you work it all out not really a great deal extra.

It is mainly the fact that it is in my hand at the end of the day.
