  • I've never seen so many................or so few!

    I've never seen so many:-

Acorns (its like walking on ball bearings)
Whitefly in the Greenhouse. Had to defoliate all the tomato plants, never had to do that before, the plants normally keep cropping until December

and I've never seen so few:-

Courgettes. Its a very poor year, what's happened to the usual glut

I've had rubbish tomatoes but nothing to do with white fly.
With you on the courgettes. Very disappointing year.

      I've never seen so many...

red admirals in autumn. Not sure why, but they seem to be everywhere at the moment.

earwigs. Ugh, they're hiding everywhere, especially in nigella seed heads, sweetcorn, and dahlia blooms.

      I've never seen so few....

slugs. Weirdly, even though it's been rainy here all summer long, I've had virtually no slug damage to foliage, and no slug holes in the potatoes.

I don't recall seeing any Ladybirds this year, maybe a reason for increase in whitefly .

          I've never seen so many

self seeded achocha plants (no more seed sowing in future)
big fat Spanish slugs in my garden here
nettles in my garden. They really have gotten comfy.

          I've never heard so many

friggin owls. If anyone has a shortage of them it is because they are here and competing to be the loudest. Surprised the muntjacs didn't join in. Yes, I have had a rubbish nights sleep (insert grumpy face)

I have never had or seen so many
Runner beans, kids can plant them again for me next year as they must have a magic touch.
Broad beans, again kids can plant those again.
Loads of conkers and acorns around here. So many local school kids haven't got all of the conkers yet.
Courgettes, bit sick of looking at them.
Sloes, in the hedgerow by the allotment there are loads
Wild blackberries were so early here and there were loads of them. A bumper year here.

I didn't have a single strawberry. Not one.
            Blueberries. Not one.
            Pinkberries. Not one.
            Honey berries. Not one.
All had flowers but nothing came of them.

              So many -
Blimming whitefly here is on the winter cabbage eugh!
              So few -
Tomatoes have given up here, such grotty damp weather they all went down with Botrytis
Runner beans failed miserably, my fav veg as well *sad*
Very few courgettes here (but squash did quite well) - doesn't make sense, but that's just how it is

So many grey mealy aphids all over our autumn cabbage. Savoy cabbage too, so they're impossible to get rid of.

So few winter root veg. Mind you, it would have helped if I had sown them!

The Spanish Slugs are piggin hooooooooge. The other day I thought one was a slow worm.
                  Weeds - nuff said.

What has not been so much this year is -

                  Ripe toms
                  Cabbage Whites
                  Leek growth
                  My enthusiasm.

Never seen so many cucumbers, at times in summer we were giving away 25 a day and even now they're still coming.
Hardly any Turks turban squash though, just two small ones.

Never had so many Chillis and tomatoes this year.
                          Plums and blackberries in abundance.
