  • What can I make with date puree?

I found some dried dates at the back of the cupboard - a bit out of date (OK a year out of date) but still good, just a bit tough skinned. So I covered them with water and left to soak overnight, then pureed them in the soaking water. The result is more runny than date paste, sort of syrupy.
Now I need a recipe to use them up. Anyone have a good one?

Can you reduce the syrup a tad in a pan maybe?

Mix it with oats and nuts and bake into snack bars?
        Date and apple cake?

Making these up but I'm sure you can make up a recipe, MH!

These little individual ones are delicious, you can mix it up a bit and add ginger/spices too if you fancy.

I make pumpkin seed and date flapjack all the time - I roughly chop my dates, but pureed would work just as well.

VC, I've just made a batch of muesli bars, which was how I found the dates in the first place. (Well, I knew they were in there, but hadn't gotten around to using them).

Nicos, I don't have the avocados or coconut milk for the chocolate cake, but I've saved the recipe because it sounds delish! Maybe do it for Christmas (yes, my thoughts are turning to the season already ), did you notice how much FAT there is in it?! All those calories! Definitely one for special occasions.

I do have all the ingredients for STP though, Scarlet, I'd forgotten they used dates. So sticky toffee puddings it is then.

                Thanks, all.

About to lower the tone completely but this is a serious question..................we all have (well I suppose we do) times in our life when erm erm going to the loo can be difficult. So, could you boil it down, bottle it and keep it for emergencies during the glutton (sorry Ch.........as) pig out.

I've liked Lumpy's post, and now feel like I've confessed to something personal...

I'd go with STPs, too. Yum.
