A couple of weeks after that I'll start sowing tomatoes

So, 26 days before the solstice plus the 26 days to get back to where we are now, lightwise, means 7 and a bit weeks of dark cold 'orribleness to get through (save for a few jolly and bright days in the middle) before, hopefully, gardening can start again.

Sometimes I'm a glass half empty kinda gal..... suffering from SAD it's hard to be otherwise

Well my foible is to plant shallots on the shortest day. I have usually managed it without wellingtons but with a light coat. This year I will likely need ice skates and a big puffy parka! if the weather forecast is anything to go by.

Hey VC how do you manage December/January sowing of leeks? my leeks this year didn't "do" so I want to sow early.

I'm looking forward to setting up Area 51 again in my dining room. Two things need to happen first. One, get my big shopping trip to Glasgow out of the way. That's happening this Thursday & Friday, quite excited. Two, evict Bob from his recovery room aka Area 51. He doesn't need to be in there now and my chillies need sowing.
