OK, I know this is gloating, but... lunch out today was spectacular, especially since it only cost 12 euros for a three course meal (every course a winner) including bread, wine, water and iced coffee. We'll be going back there again for sure. First meal out in absolutely ages, so nice that it was a success.

There's one nearly ripe strawberry on the plants my Mum gave me earlier this year and one on the plants that seem to have crept under the fence from next door and that did nothing last year (probably because I kept mowing them). I last had home-grown strawberries 25 years ago. If I can just stop them getting eaten by the birds...

I was due an appraisal at work during my annual leave. My appraiser has now moved it back. This means I have much more flexibility to do what I want with my time off. I still need to use some of my leave to prepare for my appraisal, but I have more days where I can go off and do exciting things now that I'm not fitting everything around a random weekday where I have to go up to work.
This means a trip to the seaside has suddenly become a very real possibility. Apart from a day-trip to Cleethorpes in the snow (really) a few years ago, I haven't seen the sea in well over ten years. And Cleethorpes doesn't really count, because you have to walk miles and miles south to see the actual sea rather than just the Humber estuary and by then you are a long way in-land because the shore itself is not safe to walk on. I just have to decide where and when and how long to stay (day-trip? overnight? so many possibilities!)
