  • Watching a mother and father fox taking their baby for a stroll in the grounds behind our house.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      I love my garden
For a moment there I thought you could afford an Au Pair, that would make gardening more agreeable.

      • A day messing about in a mountain river with my two boys, and a friend who recently adopted a 5yo boy (ours are adopted, too). A day spent with another mum who 'gets it', in my favourite element (water), with boys who were having a ball. In and out of deep, sweetly-fresh pools, dodging among the boulders, exploring the river. Perfection.

                        • I've had such a happy day today. First off had an unexpected free day off work. Yay!

Went out for an early morning walk (5.30am) and found some ripe wild cherries. Yay!

Popped into sainsbugs for a few groceries, had a shufti round the small appliances aisle as I need a new iron - not that I use it very often, but the one I have is so old I can't use it as a steam iron any more 'cos it trips out the electricity .

To my delight, all the irons were on clearance, and HALF PRICE!! Bought a £75 iron for just £37.50!

Picked the last of the gooseberries, just over 4lbs, cooked, pureed, and froze them to make jam later, leaving some to go with the H/M egg custard we had for dessert this evening.

Took my mum in her wheelchair for a walk, early in the day before it got too hot, round a local country park, hardly another soul about, saw fallow deer, and green woodpeckers. Lovely, and my mum thoroughly enjoyed it.

                          Some days are diamonds.
