  • My train was cancelled....
5 mins before the (delayed) previous train left the platform, so my ticket conveniently became valid for the earlier train

A lovely stroll through Hyde Park this morning, still a little morning mist between the trees.

And, more importantly, I have discovered that it doesn’t take much longer to walk across central London than take the tube, and is in many ways a pleasanter journey ;-)

      • Watching the moon rising through the trees - a great big orange moon with a corner missing - as if a giant mouse has nibbled it. As I type this, I can see it, rising higher and higher, brighter and brighter, so close I feel I could reach out and pick it from the trees.
My camera isn't good enough for a photo so you'll have to take my word for it - or you could pop outside and look to the east, and enjoy it too.

        • I'm due to go to the theatre next week to see a play by a company who like a bit of audience interaction. I usually book a seat on the centre aisle at that theatre, but if I expect audience interaction I go for something well away from the aisle! This time, I booked well in advance (as they usually sell the place out) and right in the middle of a row. Checked the website this morning, and realised that there were three empty seats on either side of me which is like marking a mock-this-person bullseye on my forehead.

But, it just so happens that a work friend mentioned the other day that she's never been to the theatre in this country, and not at all in many, many years. And she has agreed to come. So, that's already better than before. Now, if I can just persuade a few more people to join us...

          • I’ve decided a weekly Happy is better than an A’s and when so......

            Bees are still buzzing about.
Radish, Lambs Lettuce and some oriental I’ve forgotten are zooming into existence.
I have a reason for my warble (hot water bottle) now.
The old dog is still doddery but happy.
The leaves are changing into far more interesting colours than green.

            • Although many people may find my posts about my caring difficulties unnecessary on this gardening forum I really hope that that just one person in the many thousands who visit realise that they are not the only one with caring difficulties whilst trying to keep hold of their sanity by growing a plant or two.

                • Lumpy, I work with frail elderly people, many of whom have dementia. I see the words you type etched all over the faces of so many wives and husbands who are just exhausted by it all. If gardening helps you to get through each day, then you should garden. And if venting on the forum helps you to face the next challenge then vent away. I know I haven't been here very long, but I've often been moved by your posts. You are clearly deeply cared for here. Don't ever forget it

And, so as to avoid the wrath of the mods, my happy thing:

I'm happy that Lumpy is able to write about important things here.

                        • Stopping on the way to work and picking a final cob of corn to go with lunch, together with a handful of raspberries. Nom nom.

Having a bad morning routine (common) after 10 days or so of good ones (rare). Setting out to 7yo all the things I'm doing to try and help him manage himself better and not struggle* and asking him what he thinks he can do to help, too. AND GETTING REASONABLE, CALM, CONSTRUCTIVE ANSWERS FROM HIM.

Because he rocks. Love, love, Love him.
