Driving home late last night / this morning I came across what I first thought to be a discarded fast food bag in the middle of the road, as it was a small, dark coloured object, motionless and actually on the white line itself. Thought nothing of it until I got closer and the headlights picked out more detail, and it turned out to be a Tawny owl just sat there in the darkness (odd place to sit but guess it made sense to the owl).
The happy aspect of this tale is a three parter; first, that I didn't hit it. Second, that after performing a u-turn down the road and coming back to investigate thinking perhaps it was injured, it instead waited until I'd drawn alongside before taking off into the night. Like it was waiting for me. And third, that's the first time I've seen an owl, any owl, up close like that in the wild
I've seen some pretty cool stuff driving around in the dead of nightLast edited by Philthy; 09-10-2018, 08:57 PM.

I’m happy because I’m relieved.
Our baby dog Maggie the Sag (she’s 9+) had a dental at the lovely vets today.
5 teeth removed, rescale and polish and she will be home around 5pm.
We have only had Mags and her mom Pip the Plop (13+) for a few months but I was so worried this morning.
Both are Staffies and both are truly beautiful dogs.
Oh well beans on toast for the next month.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison
