        • Out for a walk yesterday I passed a chap with a dalmation on a lead. Getting off the road and onto the footpath he let her off the lead. She started to make a dash back to the road so he called her sternly "Dorothy, come here". She obeyed and off they went, leaving me thinking "What an odd name for a dog...".

It wasn't until quite a bit further on that I laughed out loud when I realised that Dorothy was the perfect name for a spotty dog.

            • He's gorgeous, Baldy. Well done you for taking in a rescue, especially a black one, as they're supposed to be the most difficult to rehome.

I have to ask it - has he just eaten?

and is he a Full Monty.

              • I'd imagine he's simply cream-crackered VC, its like he's manic at the moment... though he has got through quite a bit of grub too.

We tend to be a two (rescue) cat household and try to make sure that one of them is black - as you say they are meant to be tricky to rehome. We've found the black ones to always have strong, usually frienldy characters - maybe familiar...

Currently he's got both his currants
(They'll be 'vanished' before he's allowed out to fraternise with the local ladycats...)

                  • Seeing pictures of happy cats. And being reminded of Larry, a black cat whose currants were rather outsize - more along the lines of very large broad beans after considerable usage - upon removal. So much so, the vet felt obliged to show them to me after the op, she was so shocked. Very odd.

                    • Happy to admit we too have a black cat....always have had one for the last 40 years!
Never knew they were supposed to difficult to rehome
                      Difficult to photograph though!
And on cue....Hibou has come up and sat next to me, so I've shown her the photos of Monty

                        • That people take on rescues.
                          Well done Balders and family.
We are anticipating a new foster arrival soon. Shame it will be an oldie being replaced by a youngie over the present giving time.

Go Monty. We have a black Monty and his sister Mindy living next door but one.
