                    • You know me by now - I don't "do" Christmas! My decorations are a tiny driftwood tree, a china potpourri thing with holly leaf design and a metal moose I brought back from Canada - he's red so he looks a bit festive.

Prepare yourselves - I have a fir and pinecone wreath on the front door, complete with red ribbon bow.
It was given to me as I left Morries this afternoon and I couldn't refuse it. I think everyone who shopped there today left with a free wreath and a chocolate at checkout. The local youth orchestra were playing festive music and even I started to feel a bit Christmassy.
Bit different to last week when Father Christmas was in the doorway, his helpers rattled their tins, the rain poured down and I was soaked. When FC wished me a Merry Christmas I felt like punching him on the nose. I didn't but it made me feel better just thinking it.

I also bought a couple of gift baskets - planted with poinsettia, kalanchoe and some wilted stuff, reduced from £15 to 75p. Just needs a little tlc!

                      • That my closest friend who has no family spent a lovely day yesterday with neighbours who are both chefs and their daughter and grandchildren.

Audrey really deserved a magical day and thanks to the kindness and friendship of others had one.

                          • ^^^ Hope they didn't try to post it through the letterbox

I've been yellow stickering again - just have to decide what to do with 24 avocados, 16 huge oranges, 3 bags of carrots, 2 heads of fennel and a swede in a pear tree.

PS I made up the pear tree, in case your're wondering.

                            • Spent 3 hours this morning packing up Christmas and putting it all back in the loft - 6 boxes (large) of decorations, 2 bags of tree (it's too heavy for me to lift all in one bag) and 2 boxes of glittered fir cones. Bookcase that has to go upstairs for the duration carried back down, and all the books too. Everywhere vacuumed, I'll dust later..... maybe.....

Christmas is lovely but it's so nice to get back to normal again too.

                              • Happy (more like relief) that the year is drawing to a close. It's been a tough year in many ways so finding small happinesses in daily life is going to be my new year's resolution for 2019.
