  • Accumulation of cruft/stuff

My mum is a bit of a hoarder (probably not worthy of an episode on telly but definitely noticeable) - I think at times I've inherited the tendency - and a year or two ago my allotment plot was chock full of stuff I thought *might be useful oneday*

Anyhow - at the plot I'm a bit more on top of things - it still looks chaotic but there isn't quite so much 'stuff' there.

I inherited the GH at home - its only about 6 foot from the house so is in shade for about 1/3 of the day - the main issue though is that to get to the garden you have to go past the GH - and despite my best efforts there remain pots, compost spills and other detritus - I can't afford to move the GH.

So my question is - would some bamboo screening help!!!

(I realize I need to keep tidying up really...)

Apart from the weirdness of the title, (moderated from Cruft to stuff )I understand vicariously. Mr Snoop is a dreadful hoarder. Drives me mad. The other day he complained to a mutual friend in the village that he was in the doghouse over all his stuff. The friend told him to tidy up. No sympathy for him whatsoever. Hasn't shown any sign of doing it yet, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

As for the greenhouse, if you use it for growing in, bamboo screen isn't the answer. You know what you've got to do do: build a shed with no windows. I know because Mr Snoop is building something similar, though it will nominally be called the garage and his workshop.

        Dark glasses maybe?
Or you could do as I do - acquire another GH and call the existing one a potting shed.

Hmm - even 'urbandictionary' which can usually be relied upon to import some dirty meaning when none was intended in its definitions is a bit of a let down
            https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cruft

            the search continues...

Yep! Totally agree...though even without a hoarding issue I'm a bit on the messy side. I need Deano training.

99% of the time you are off with the fairies working out the next wacky growing challenge

Now it has to be said like my cosmic twin, I too had a Mum who accumulated a load of stuff, and I have to say I too have her squirrel tendency I have two shed full to the door that I have stuff in that may be useful that I can't get into to find it.

In one I have a petrol generator new in it's box with and Black & Decker tiller that I bought in 2013 when I first got my plot and have never used as I soon found out I could do a similar job with a Wolf Soil Miller Head.

Balders...just get in there and tidy it up!....Simples!
Stick in a few colourful things , be it newly painted old cupboards, flowering plants, a couple of chairs and small table perhaps and make it look user friendly .
It's a brill place to sit in when it's raining, maybe have a beer or brew with a mate ..

I like the sound of a potting bench, add cupboards to store the pots and stuff then if there's space go with Nicos's idea for a seating area.
