Hello everyone. It's that jolly time of year when the envelope arrives inviting you to play the Pooh Sticks game. I know it's a faff but far, far better than faffing with a colostomy bag. Whilst I'm on this merry topic, why not play the "Magic Roundabout" using your hands and fingers on all those lovely round and soft places which usually come in twos, because if you don't you could end up losing at least one if not both. If MT can do it then so can you! PS - if MT hadn't done it a number of years ago she wouldn't be here typing this important post.

Sorry if my post was slightly obscure but some cancers can be difficult to diagnose. If they are in your upper intestines, by the time the tumours have grown enough to cause problems in that area, it could be too late for treatment. Any unexplained lumps under the chin, in the armpits or groin areas, blood in your wee or poo, and trouble swallowing DEFINITELY needs a visit to the GP. Grab it before it gets a hold of you. Some of these things may be due to an infection, but if you are experiencing any of these symptoms it doesn't mean it's cancer; however, better to be safe than sorry.

This is all very sound advice. Worth noting that blood in your stool isn't red if it's come from high up (unless you are having a massive haemorrhage), so black stools should send you to the doctor as well as stools with fresh red blood.

SC - good point there. When I started as a medical lab scientist in Biochemistry I had to sample poo and test it for blood. I always knew one would give a positive result because it looked like dark tar. Also, to say that if your poo test comes back positive, it doesn't necessarily mean you may have cancer as it could be due to piles.
