  • UFOs - real or not, your thoughts?

    Just wondering on everyone's opinion?

I can't say I believe there is"something out there".I'm sure they would have got in touch by now.
BUT,by the same token ,should something appear,I would not be surprised.I suppose that means I have an open mind on the subject.

Don't know, not really bothered but if they garden then they'll probably turn up on this forum sometime.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Don't know. Have definately seen objects which couldn't be identified. (Hesitate to describe them for fear of being thought mad) Other friends have seen objects. They were so convinced about them they called the powers that be to report. The answer was always our asronomical aparatus picked up no such sightings. So who knows.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

hum, I grew up in todmorden, it has the most frequent ufo sightings in the uk, my dad has seen one but refuses to talk about it.
we lived up on the hills in the country so we had great veiws of the sky, i have never seen anything that i couldnt identify.
the raf practice a lot out that way.
also im a member of the astronomy club there, we have the best equpitment for an ameter club anywhere in the world, and even though people are at the observetory most nights nothing unexplainable has ever been seen.
would be nice to think we arnt alone but untill i see proof i'm a bit sceptical, other life is most likly to be bacterial.

what about non-carbon based life like silicon etc?, bacteria have proved that oxygen is not a requirement for life, and chemotrophs can feed on things like sulphur, and don't need light from the sun, so why not?, we surely cannot be the only ones, it may not be what we imagine or would like it to be, but for life to exist on just this one lump of rock and water is, imho unlikely.

Don't forget, life on this chunk of carbon has taken a long time to evolve from carbon throught to bactaria/microbes or whatever. When scientists talk of 'the universe' they are referring only to a tiny spec in the vastness of a space that we cannot even begin to understand. Most astro scientists (only used as a general term) have now dropped the 'IF' word when discussing 'life' on other worlds. Me, I think that us humans are colonists from A.N. Other world. Maybe shed from a Super Nova eons ago, carried on Solar Winds to this solar system, finally to fit in with mother nature and evolve to what we are today, still evolving and in the eons to come, when our Sun finally turns SupaNova, we will carry on our journey. Just think, you may be related to a being from another world!

Well, having visited Roswell in New Mexico, I suggest the authorities take a long hard look at the genetic makeup of all the shop keepers there, the ones selling the unbelievable tat to the tourists inparticular are the dodgy looking ones.

But seriously there is a UFO museum type place there and they where saying Wiltshire was the hot bed for the UK for sightings, lots of interesting photos and crop circles.

Where I live we are having lots of big cat sightings at the mo.

Kernowyon is the first person I've EVER seen use the term "IMHO" for an opinion that actually IS humble! Well done!
If something is flying, and you can't identify it, then it is, by definition, an unidentified flying object. That doesn't mean it necessarily comes from another world. The late, great Douglas Adams had a nice line about intelligent life being too intelligent to contact humans until it knows what we want. But I think I agree most with the Pythons: (all together now!) "Pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space, beacause there's buggerall down here on earth."
