Mornin n'alln'all
I've made a decision!....
Well..tis warm n'windy out there and I'm shattered and still not feeling good with the shingles...so, I'm going to take a mat outside , sit on it and gently gather up fallen hazelnuts. I often end up going it in the pouring rain, so this is probably a first!
I think I deserve a bit of a gentle day after such a whirlwind if a fortnight....
At least it's constructive and fresh air.
No doubt I'll be doing a lot of chatting to myself too.
If you see a white van with a face peering out of the window will someone come an kindly rescue me!?
See ya later peeps...tis good to be back"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Bright and blue again here. None of the rain clouds have been productive. We were due 20 mm yesterday. Not a drop fell though there were plenty of ominous clouds, enough for me to cover up the car windscreens and rear screens.
Lots of mutterings in the village about a nearby village of peach growers sending up a light aircraft to disperse the clouds or seed them with silver iodide. It's true that a small town some fifty km away by road had an insurance policy to protect their peaches and silver iodide was used. They decided it was pointless and did not renew one year, but that year their peaches were ruined by an almighty hailstorm. Since then, they've been paying, apparently. I'm not sure the small village nearby would have the money to pay for such an insurance policy, but you never know if there are big growers involved.
Good to see you back, Nicos. Sorry to hear about your aches and pains, Rary and LD. Not sure if brandy administered internally will help, Rary. Probably makes you feel better though!
Busy day today. Paid work and food preparation for Mr Snoop for while I'm back in Britain seeing my mum. I love having a freezer. Made a massive amount of ragù yesterday. Only one lot of washing up and perhaps only twice the effort for five or six meals. Brilliant.
Right, that's more than enough gasbagging from me. Have a jolly day everyone.Last edited by Snoop Puss; 19-09-2018, 09:48 AM.

Good morning all.
At the moment we are being hammered here by storm force winds and driving rain.
Keeping my eye on my greenhouse and the roof of our conservatory.
Stay safe all,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Mornings!
Dry and windy here (but a lot worse elsewhere, I know ) Mollycat is in and out like a yoyo, silly thing gets spooked by it.
Domestics for me today I think, as will have visitors at the weekend, but probably make another batch of passata before I start on the kitchen, though, thinking about it....
Have a good'un

Afternoon all . We've had horizontal rain with strong gusty winds but now it's beautiful and shiney ermhh with the same strong gusty winds. The heating is on and I've catnapped for a while. Only damage I can see so far is our lovely flemmin climbing plant I can't remember the name of at the front of the house has been blown off the wall and is lying on the ground . I've remembered now. It's a clematis
The local District Association of the National Vegetable Society has its annual show this Sunday in the Glasshouses of the Winter Gardens at Duthie Park in Aberdeen. I'm Secretary and have been scrambling about looking for the laminated class cards etc which weren't where I expected them to be . Turned out they were where I left them last year.

Started another post cause I ran out of emoticons. Marshalls Seeds, and DT Brown kindly sponsored a couple of classes at our National show at Harrogate last weekend and me being me approached their stands at the show and asked for some seeds in support of the same classes we are running in our show but without the sponsorship. Hats off to both firms, they have come good for us.
I had packed up my trailer this morning ready to go do my remaining paid job. My customer is 86 years old and I told her this was my last year. Anyway, I've told her I'll do it again next year as she's to sell up and move in with her daughter who is presently in Dunbar south of Edinburgh but they intend buying somewhere bigger together. Couldn't leave her to try to get a new gardener for a year. Anyhoo, the rain came on before I left for work and the trailer needs to be unpacked and unhitched and put away. Any volunteers?

Good afternoon all.
Well, I think the worst of the storm is over.
Unfortunately it took down three trees growing in the grounds behind our house.
So sad to look out at them just lying there withering.
Hope everybody is safe,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Afternoon!
Much more windy here...but still lovely and warm.
So far I've picked up 2huuuge bowls of hazelnuts and probably have another 3 to collect. At least I've made a start!
Had to nip out to the shops as I hadn't realised we'd run out of a few things.
Really sorry to hear about those trees bramble....always sad to see majestic trees fall. Hopefully no-one was injured or property damaged?
I was being bombarded with hazelnuts whilst I was picking them out of the lawn...they flippin hurt when they land on you!
Looks like we have more fallen pears and apples to collect too....."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
