Well, more things I've learnt today. Time for a nap. My brain is quite worn out.

So ignoring muffins (the bread type or the cupcake type *drool*) that leaves us with - pancakes, crumpets, 'Scotch pancakes' or drop scones, pikelets and griddle cakes Have I forgotten any?
Locally different names for much the same recipe, with maybe slight variations in cooking method?

Anyway - they're all lovely and all this thinking about them has made me very hungry! So I've put bread in the toaster and got out the butter & jam
You are right Thelma, variations of the same thing, and my OH bought some this morning from the local baker, the size of dinner plates, so I am off to get a bit of crumpet but I must admit I do like the fruity ones the best
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                • Morning People, cooler again this morning and overcast at the moment. Another day in the Broom cupboard is on the cards for me today as I have a load of computer based stuff to review and produce. Talked my self out of a job as the Architects were so bad, I just don't want to hand hold and be associated with the scheme, at least working for my self allows me to do that these days. The Architect could not even draw the existing building correctly and as for the errors in the proposed Doh!

                  • Morning All

Just preparing to leave for Cornwall, not a pleasure trip but for the funeral of an old friend who died suddenly.

I hope you all have a very pleasant Wednesday

                    • ^Sorry to hear about your friend, GL.

Yes, I wondered about NS going on holidays. But it seems like such a long time since she was here. Thanks for the info, guys.

As for here, it rained steadily pretty well all night, but now the sun is trying to break through the clouds and it's quite warm. Perfect weather for plants. What a shame I haven't got more in the ground. Ah well...

So, paid work is now a bit more under control. Got a proper night's sleep last night and am ready to attack the day. I've felt a bit like a sheep with wool all over my eyes these last few days.

                      Have a good day, guys.

                      • I woke up cold at 3am, my fault I had taken the duvet off, after a few weeks of warm nights just leaving sheet and thin bedspread on. Got up and put duvet on bed again but couldn't get back to sleep properly. Just kept tossing and turning and only slept in snatches so now have a 'heavy head' and back-ache, Grrr!
                        Great start to the day

I hope you are all feeling better than I am, have a good'un

                        • Afternoon all, as if by magic I’m back.
Got logged out of the Vine and it’s taken me ages to get back on.
                          Hava ya missed me?
I’ve got spuds, tomatoes, salad crops and loads of flowers.
Only had to do a week of jury service, then on holiday to Vegas
Been back 2 weeks and only just over the jet lag
I do hope you are all well

                            • evening all. Been a lovely day up here again but oh my, we are starting to really really need rain.

My plot is slowly getting nearer to the standard I expect from myself. Fluey thing last October and then again at the start of the year which took ages and ages to clear up and then of course we had such a late spring. Has taken me ages to catch up. Today was digging the trench for my show peas and then backfilling with compost from the compost bin, some used tattie compost from last years tatties grown in bags, some well rotted fym and finally some growmore shaken over the soil which was pulled back over the top. Blooming hard work.

the weather down here is much the same AP but will manage to put up with it, in fact it has been several years since I have needed to water any of the garden
As for taking ages to get over the illness apparently that's what happens when you get older, or so I am told, VC will be able to tell you for definite with her being that much older than the rest of us
