Must put up the parasol over the bunny hutch and freeze some bottles of water to leave in her hutch (she cuddles up next to them!)
How are everyone's pets coping with the heat?...I hear it's officially a heatwave in the UK? (We just call it summer!)

I've used a couple of bed slats to fix my seat on the allotment so at least now on a Sunday I have somewhere to sit every now and again when I stop for a drink.

                  • Morning all. Haven't been to plot as it's to warm for me at the moment. So been doing some jobs at home again.
Been sorting through my seeds to see what I'll need for next year. Just need to wait for the seed sales to start

                      • VC I noted in one of your posts that you said you would be picking fruit, and also you would be making raspberry jam, is your fruit ready for picking already, my raspberries are just small green berries at present and I mean them all, summer and Autumn fruiting bushes

                        • Correction I see it is strawberry jam you were going to make, though I have been eating one or two from school he garden I wouldn't have enough yet to make jam

                          • I've made both, rary - 4 jars of raspberry and 16 jars of strawberry.
When it cools down I'll pick some more!
I've just had a fruit tasting wandering round the garden - strawberry, raspberry, red & green gooseberries, redcurrant, blackcurrant and jostaberry. If I had to choose to grow only one of these it would be raspberries. Long season, easy to pick and prune, no need to renew plants every few years and for the sublime taste of a sun warmed raspberry .
                            Which would you choose?

                            • Surly if you made the jam yesterday, it will have cooled down by now
and yes I agree with you, raspberries are the best and easiest fruits to grow
Now I will need to get into the shade, the hea y must be getting to me when I am agreeing with you

I do like a Rasp, but these little Alpine Strawbs I grew from seed take some beating, the red ones are just coming in and the white ones may be ready tomorrow.
