  • Good morning all.
A little late here as we had a time lapse from holidays.
Just had a champagne breakfast and now off out to my garden for the day.
20 deg here at the moment.
Hosepipe ban being enforced from Monday so everything needs watering asap.
    Enjoy the weekend all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • Mornin n'alln'all

Yipppeee-I get the polka dot frock at last!

Off to a couple of Vide Greniers (running out of jam jars!)
Then today I shall mostly be 'doing' cherries.
They"re not really fully ripe but we may have storms later so I want to get lots frozen or jammed or bottled before they split or go mouldy.
Will certainly leave plenty on the tree in case it doesn't rain...when they are deep black they are stunningly tasty!

          • Half eleven and half asleep. What a disgraceful state of affairs. All I can say is I did actually get up early today to tie up the toms before it got too hot. Did one bed (of twelve plants only). Been a while since I looked at them. More disgraceful still, I probably chopped off as much material in side shoots as I tied in. Oh dear. Been a while since I last looked at them.

Off for a little nap, then a bit of work.

Hope you're all having a good day too.

            • Happy slightly-cloudy Sunday. Really hope one of the rain clouds comes here soon.
The Whale was outside this morning, sucking out the drains, so we're prepared. Bring it on. I've even put some washing out to tempt it.
Already, its been one of those days! Out in the garden with the chooks and dogs. Suddenly, Mrs New-Brown races past hotly pursued by Ted and Blondie at the rear...............then me, struggling to keep up.
Mrs N-B has something in her beak, Ted wants it. She drops it, Ted picks it up and runs off, pursued by Mrs N-B and Blondie. Ted drops it and its snatched up by Blondie and fought for by Mrs N-B.
Eventually, I see what it is................a bird's head. Blackbird I think. Between the 3 of them, they ate it. Can't believe that a hen would eat another bird - little cannibals.
              I came in to recover!
Hope your day is sublimely devoid of detached bird's heads.

                • Hot here as well, so did my plot visit early, watering squashes and peas, found a few peas to pick and a courgette.

Enjoying a cold Thatcher's now with a sandwich

                  Have a good afternoon everyone!

                  • Sooooo hot!

However, I have been out and picked some sweet peas, so now I have two (small) vases of them in my living room. I've just walked back into the room and the fragrance is lovely

I've also had a VC inspired uprooting of underperforming plants. All of my radishes and turnips have now been pulled up, which has created quite a lot of space for other things. I have a couple of dwarf french beans that have been waiting to move out of a single small pot for quite some time, and it may be the right time to give spring onions another go (they never really recovered from their frequent uprootings by my cat-visitors). I'll also sow some more salad leaves, although my winter lettuces haven't shown any signs of bolting yet (they are in a shady spot, but I'm impressed!) I could also dig up my pansies and move them, which will give my cucumbers more room to expand.

                    • Good evening, an other cracker of a day again, when I got up this morning I watered some of my plants also watered one of my neighbour's as he is on holiday, then off to church, after the service we decided to go out for lunch, as we have the grandsons every day from tomorrow till a week on Friday, and once back home just sat and enjoyed the day, though while sitting OH asked if I really need the veg pots mixed in with the flower pots on the patio, she didn't seem to accept that it helped fill the place with greeneryClick image for larger version

Well now going out for a wee walk as it is cooling down a bit. Enjoy the rest of the evening and remember, if you are going to say anything about someone, make it something nice
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                        • Late evening all.
Church this morning for my grandkids grandmother's first anniversary mass.
Spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden putting things to rights.
                          Watering,deadheading and weeding.
                          Almost back to normal.

                            • Trying to get up early to make the most of the cool morning, but this is only going to work if I go to bed early...

Anyway, more toms to tie up. Also going to check my theory that Trombo Sid grows at night rather than during the day. Seems unlikely, but he didn't grow at all yesterday during the day.

So, have a good day everyone.
