  • Hot and breezy here today, cut the grass yesterday and watered the veg this morning, removed a couple of the HUGE dwarf French beans as the butternut squashes become triffids and are taking over the greenhouse.

    • Mornings!
I'm trying, not to get up earlier each day, but to sort myself out and get to the plot straight away, before it gets too hot - didn't work today though

3 cups of tea later and I'm still thinking about it Somebody please put me into gear!

      Have a good'un

      • Happy Melting Monday There's a slight breeze but no sign of any wet stuff.
I've watered the GHs and done a bit of clearance but it was too hot to be in the sun for long. Have to look after my delicate skin
I'm busily occupied watched Kierran travelling around the city in his Postman Pat van. He's due here between 13.15 and 14.15 but sometimes, he seems really close and I'm shouting at him, saying Kierran, you've gone the wrong way. You should have taken a left for my place.. Like most other people, he's ignoring me.
Have a great day, whatever you're doing - especially those who have to earn their crusts!

        • The good news is - Kierran and the parcel have arrived. I told him that I'd been shouting at him to go the other way but, once he explained why he took the route he does, I let him off.
Just an aside - isn't it difficult to sign your name using your finger nail My writing's bad enough with a pen!!

Free to continue with my day now..............

          • Like veggichicken I too am indoors taking refuge from the heat.
I spent an hour tidying behind the shed just because it was in a shared area.
Doing a bit of weeding and deadheading but it's just too hot to do anything heavy.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

              • Good afternoon, a lovely warm day again, GD phoned to tell me there was a mouse in the trap I set in her flat, and also added there is no way she will be lifting it to dispose of it, so went and binned it for her and reset the trap, the cheese is gone so there must be more. I then went a walk with my son's and my daughter's dogs, as it feels very warm I took them through some trees for the shade, there is something really pleasant and peaceful walking, through the dappled shade of trees with a cool breeze blowing through them, it puts me in such good mood,in fact I even offered to help my good lady pre pair the tea, but,she declined the offer, thankfully, enjoy the rest of your evening, and be kind to one another

                      • Nicos, the birds have already eaten my cherries before they were ripe.

For those who haven't read the rant thread, I was in a car accident this morning. I spent the next few hours dealing with the admin that results.

Now my car was a Mini One convertible. It spent most of the year with its roof up. We now have the weather that is the reason for a convertible, the insurance company tried to get me the same as my temporary replacement and as nice as the car is, it's not a convertible. Gutted.

I really need to get out in the garden, but my get up and go has got up and left. Tomorrow is another day.

                        • Evening all. Nothing is happening at the allotment due to the heat. Flat is nice and tidy though due to having to stop in.
Think I might need to sort my seeds out again ready for when the seed sales start
                          Have a good evening everyone

                            • Any resemblance is purely coincidental! Everyone knows the saying - its as rare as hen's teeth - so how can a chicken be a vampire?
