  • Bright but cool here this morning at the moment. So about to go and do some tying-up of peppers and aubergines and watering before it becomes impossible. Left three toms yesterday still to do today. They're right by a trail of big ants... Not looking forward to that. Had a little rain yesterday but it's all dried up, so they'll still be going to and fro.

I know what you mean about work getting in the way of gardening, SC and Carrie. How's the job going, by the way, C?

So, on with the day here before I can't bear to be outdoors any longer. Catch you later.

    Have a good one, everyone.

    • Morning crew, the sun is just breaking through the clouds, yes clouds and we have a 12 - 20% chance of rain this afternoon, please let it be so as I'm getting fed up with watering and I need to run a hose to a different stand pipe on the allotment as I was confronted by a very angry plot holder who threatened me with violence because of all things using a hose.

The tap has a two way splitter, and this individual has two plots at different ends of the site, so if he is not on one and has left the hose running I turn it off as its been left unattended and our rules state that we should not do that. This time the tap was not on but when I turned it on I turned off his spur as he was not on the site.

I was on another plot holders plot chatting to them when he marched up and literally stood toe to toe and threatened me with physical harm if I touched the splitter again! I guess I shouldn't have but with him literally being in my face, I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him back telling him to get out off my face as there was no need for him to be that near, which sent him off even worse.

Now in retrospect, I'm assuming he would say I assaulted him first but it was just the invasion of my personal space. I don't do bullies, I know what I'm capable off and I'm more scared of how brutal I can be when given no option but to defend my self as once I see blood I want to see much more of it, and I'm more scared of that than any individual coming at me.

Bottom line, as I now have the plot next door I will run a hose from the watering point at the other end of the plot and will have no need to go anywhere near the bloody tap he uses. I'm hoping we just return to the state where we don't talk to each other.

      • Mornings, much cooler here this morning with light cloud and the odd blue patch. The sun is giving us a rest, if only we could have some rain as well

Cad, avoidance seems to be the only way forward, hope things settle down now. Thank goodness there's another tap you can use. We've got a plot holder who won't be told, and is still insisting on using a hose, even though he has the standpipe next to his shed! Awkward b@gger

        Have a good'un

          • Morning all. No I'm not late on parade, the first forum I read each day is the one dedicated to our local area and someone had had an ill-informed rant on it. So I felt the need to reply.

Anyway, I thought I came away from Mondays car accident unscathed but it must have been the symptoms of shock that prevented me from feeling any pain. I now hurt all down my right side particularly my hip, knee and ankle. The impact must have slammed me into the door and against the seatbelt. I'm hobbling a bit. Still it's not that serious, I just won't be shifting earth from one end of the garden to the other which was my plan for this week. A little gentle watering, tying up tomatoes and peppers and filling the hanging baskets is about my capabilities at mo. domestics later in the day when it's hotter. Laters.

It's getting hotter here by the day.
Taking it easy today with justpottering and watering.
Too hot to do much else.
Have a good day all and don't forget the sunscreen.

Difficult situation Cads, I was told by my parents that violence wasn't the answer, sorry to say they were not right, these days, it often is the only way.

Hi Burnie - I agree totally that physical violence is no answer, but you can't negotiate with terrorists or plot holders who think you are turning their hose off, even when this particular time I didn't as the tap was not on anyway I just turned the splitter off on his hose as he was not on the plot and I wanted to get in and out as fast as possible and didn't want reduced pressure.

My spuds are still looking weary, the foliage is very wilty despite having ample water.
                          Just too hot for them
Been working all week at the charity shop. Holidays and sickness leaving massive gaps in the rotas
                          My knees and feet ache
                          Having a nice evening

                          • Good evening all.
Not a lot done today with the exception of trying to keep everything watered.
Very hot today and with the hosepipe ban I cannot damp down the greenhouse.
Windows and doors opened, curtains and shading the best I can do but, it's still bxxxdy hot.
                            Have a good evening all.
