Hope you've all enjoyed your day - still waiting for rain here!
No VC its not black and white, its a nice mahogany finish.

And when did you need to make a plan for life, I didn't know about that!
And as I write this it is heavy rain here

    • Well, so hot upstairs that I've moved my office into what we call the basement. Feel a bit like a troglodyte, but the temperature is fantastic. One of the dogs has joined me. Normally they're not allowed in here so she's panting a bit out of nervousness. Still, just listening to her is making me feel hot. Hope she settles down soon.

        • Have just spent the best part of the last hour and a half trying to sort my worm bin fruit fly infestation out.

I've drained the leachate and added lots of paper to help with the moisture (I think the warmer weather is making the worm food break down and release water faster than usual). I've fluffed up the nearly-done bottom tray of compost. I've removed all the paper from the top of tray I'm currently feeding because that seems to be what the fruit flies are laying/pupating on and I've squashed or washed away as many of the maggots as I can see on the sides and lid. I've then put new shredded paper on the top of the feeding tray then covered that with a layer of earth (good job I tipped out that container of spuds yesterday) to try and block any remaining fruit flies/larvae from getting around too easily (but presume they can still crawl around and lay eggs, the little bums). Then I've added a tray on top just full of shredded paper (to discourage more flies from getting in, seeing as how lifting the lid resulted in a swarm flooding out into my dining room - don't want any of them getting back inside!) with a vinegar fruit fly trap nestled in the middle. Then the tray with my to-be-shredded paper/card in it. Then the lid.

          Hope that is enough defences!!

I will scatter lots of vinegar fruit fly traps about the house to try and stop another round of the infestation. I really hate fruit flies!

          • Heavy rain at the moment, so no gardening for me just now, after church this morning we went for a run and ended up in a GC, had a look round it but their prices were extortionate, so needless to say I never bout anything, though OH wanted a coffee, so I bought two coffees and that was it, I don't know what I will do for the rest of the day, though if the rain go's off I am going to sow some carrot seeds, it may be a bit late for them but nothing ventured, nothing gained

              • Happy Sunny Sunday. Still no rain and the sky is as blue as a big bright blue thing.
Had my usual Sunday afternoon Hunt the Yellow Sticker safari. If you need to cool down a wander around the chilled cabinets does the trick - but don't go near the hot food counter.
It wasn't a memorable visit - nothing daft happened to amuse me. Never mind, I'm consoling myself with the sickliest buttercream topped "party cakes" imaginable. They were reduced from £4 for 6 to 40p and a couple of garish pink ones for 8p each. I've only eaten one so far. Its going to be a struggle to eat the other 7 but I'll try.
I bought some fresh tarragon (8p) that I'm going to turn into cuttings. If every sprig takes I'll be able to grow a tarragon forest.

Time to go play hunt the courgettes now - chat amongst yourselves. Be warned, I'll know if you're calling me names again.

                • Good evening all.
It has been raining here since I got up this morning.
Not very heavy, but rain is rain.
Took all my peppers and chillies out of the greenhouse and the smaller of the tomatoes to give them the benefit.
Buckets and water butts beginning to fill up very slowly.
Didn't do much, just went to church, read the papers and watched the world cup.
                  Have a good evening all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                  • Good evening, still raining so not able to get out and sow some seeds, but all my plants are looking nice and fresh, just hope the rain goes off as I really enjoyed all that good weather, here's a view of some of the garden, and evidently it's from inside, as I'm not going out in the rain

                            • It rained a bit in the night. Not much at all, but a bit. And it is distinctly grey and overcast at the moment. What a relief! Mr Snoop and the dogs have headed off for a walk, full of the joys of autumn.

Lunch out today with some friends. And plenty more work. Mr Snoop is getting well and truly fed up with me taking on too much. But there's either lots or none, no happy medium.

Anyway, have a great day everyone, especially those who have enjoyed rain.

OK so someone's got rain - and they're hardly even gloating.
