    • Good evening, its been dry but cloudy today with a temperature high of 19c. so after reading o the posts I think we are quite fortunate with that, I got my grass cut also today, and was over at the coast for a fish supper, and a bag of seaweed, now off to watch a film, enjoy your evening
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

      • Evening all,

I didn't buy a fish supper but had a lovely bit of haddock fried in bread crumbs with chips and home grown broad beans for my tea. yummie.

Just had a fleeting visit to my plot to throw some water into the toms in the greenhouse but delighted to see the toms growing outside are ripening. Toms outside in Aberdeen. Summat must be wrong

A mouse caught in a mouse trap so that's one less to destroy my beetroot. Caught a snail(yes a snail) earlier in the week. Traps baited with peanut butter. Horrible stuff but the thieves seem to like it.

Had a nosey at the part of the new Aberdeen bypass which was opened recently. Going to be a real boring road to drive on but hopefully it will help with our traffic problems.

I'm now going to sit down to work out why the 5 eights of an inch earth clamp I bought to go with the 5 eights of an inch earth spike I bought is far too big. Going back to basics and going to measure both of them in the morning. It's gotta be that simple.

Dippy eggs for breakfast this morning mmmm....

I made apple jelly with mine Flo. Always good to make something out of what could just otherwise be bunged on the compost heap eh?

Might nip out to a Vide Grenier later if it doesn't get too hot.
            Enjoy your day folks

              • Well, it doesn't feel quite as hot today as this time yesterday. So that's good news. Better still, we're forecast proper rain on Thursday and Friday this coming week (24 mm overall). Mustn't get my hopes up, but what a relief that will be if it happens.

Breakfast: orange and mandarin ice lolly (75 ml or so of frozen juice, in other words) and a very frothy white coffee.

I like a good egg recipe and I immediately thought, Ooh, eggs Nicos, not heard of that one before!

                        • I was invited to attend a local Nursery/garden centre open day today, along with two others we did a "Gardeners Question" time and I was the veg man, though we all chipped in with our thoughts, a most pleasant and interesting way to spend an hour or so, I surprised myself with how much I actually do seem to know a bit about. Most rewarding was talking with youngsters keen to become gardeners.

                          • Good evening, cloudy to with a little sunshine and a high of 20c so quite pleasant, after church this morning I decided to mix up some material in a compost bin then thought why not make a hot composted, so I have fitted a wooden frame to a wheel bin and covered it with some plywood, I will now fill the gap between the wood and the bin with polystyrene foam, which I hope will provide sufficient insulation to keep it warm, so hopping it works, I now need to find space for some dahlias and gladioli bulbs as I ordered them in a moment of weakness, I am now getting an ear bashing from OH for buying them as I don't have any space for them and she says there will be no more pots on the patio as she can't move for all the pots I have there already, but we will see

                            • Morning everyone - Up a little later this morning and not going to be able to shoe horn in an allotment visit before work, so I may just have to fit one in during the day, as I have courgettes to harvest and distribute, plus I forgot to bring the onions home. Then during work I have Beetroot to cock off and pickling to do.

I made an Allotment update video yesterday Alans Allotment: Another Scorching Sunday

What have you got planned today?
