We finally had rain....And hail -although nothing got flattened!

Had several thunderstorms rolling around all day with no rain so when it finally came It was wonderful!

It'll be interesting to see how deep it actually soaked in though.

I was a busy bunny yesterday...after all that ironing I went on to make 3large moussakas for the freezer. Somehow I managed to put a large courgette into the mix too

Yesterday evening I decided to make my version of Dorset apple cake using some early pears. Looking forward to seeing how it's worked out....(just a small taste lottie...promise) that too is really for the freezer.

Hope to go swimming later-once I've picked up more windfalls .

We have started harvesting our Pink Fir potatoes. They are lovely

Mornings!
Unlucky here cos the predicted rain and storms never arrived, unless you count 3 minutes of fat drops, 1 rumble and then nothing No more in the forecast til Thursday.
Very humid overnight, woke up drenched and feeling drained before I've even made a cuppa, does feel cooler outside, though, thank goodness. Might take advantage of that to do some ironing....

Morning all
Just dropped kids off at their dads so a bit of piece for a bit. Will give me chance to tidy the flat up a bit.
Got to see a solicitor in a bit. That's my bank account crying for the rest of the month
Then off to see a friend of my moms. Its her husbands birthday tomorrow and I forgot to post his card. So going to be a trail out for me.

Morning Crew - I'm hoping that the allotment got the 5 minutes of rain we got at home last night as no visit this morning and I'm now back alternating between cooking off beetroots and pickling and working today.

Afternoon all,the vine is quiter just lately,is everyone taking a siesta,although the sun not glowing vicious,tis still ruddy warm for me,no wet stuff here,happy pickling cad,just sorted,bagged and hung up what few onions there was,then it be shallots,you put me to shame Nicos,i should have a bakeing session for the freezer,the eggs want using,Bgood2yrselves.

Rude not to eh?...even though I did bake it myself!!!

(Just a big standard Victoria sponge with butter and ground almonds , then poked in chunks of pear and sprinkled with Demerara sugar.
4x the quantities! Baked in a roasting tin)

Afternoon all, hope it’s a good one. Better sleep last night but I’ve done virtually nothing today! It’s a lot cooler and a bit breezy would like another couple of days of warmth before the autumn sets in.

OH said he'd come with me but decided to ho ho ho () one bed...then needed to tie something back, then decided he'd better order his new phone today, then made a quick cuppa, then realised he needed to try and book in his car for repair somewhere else, then couldn't find something....

Think I'll just throw the bags in the boot of my car and tell him I'm off...see if he joins me????
At this rate it'll be time to come home before we even get there

Temps back up today. And it's blowing a gale. How plants survive out there I do not know.
