Afternoon all. Why does it feel like Sunday when it's not?
Been checking sacrificial bags of show spuds to see whether the various varieties are big enough. Too big loses points!! Anyway, the Blue belle looked a bit like Kestrel i.e. they were looking distinctly peaky compared to what I expected. After checking the Nadine and Casablanca, I checked the Kestrel which looked very highly coloured compared to what I expected. Had a wee furtle in a few more bags and yes, One was labled as the other and the other was labled as one. Get the picture ? Lables all swapped over and everything now as it should be. Over lunch, had the thought that my better half's spuds may also be wrongly labled as it was me in charge of marking the trays at chitting time.. Yes they were wrong too .

What a beautiful day. I’ve spent most of it so far cleaning the kitchen and washing stuff - chair covers, duvets etc as it’s a good drying day.
My daughter asked me an interesting question - what did my mum do after she left school at 15 and before starting her nursing training at 18. Now I knew there’d been a gap and I knew she’d helped my grandpa with his riding school and she designed weather vanes for his blacksmithing. My niece was looking for a photo of her in nurses uniform for an exhibition for 70th anniversary of the NHS. So she went to my auntie (91 next month). This is when we get the surprise. My mum was a magicians assistant!!!. For Willane, the Magician. We are gobsmacked. Anyone who has met my mum would never, ever have guessed. She was one of those women who always looked elegant even when she’d been painting or gardening and was a bit of a snob. Talk about channeling her inner Debbie McGee (my sisters expression, not mine)."I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)
"It is neccessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live" (also Alexandre Dumas)

Lovely looking trout, Snadger. Did you eat the whole thing yourself? It looks like a big one to me!
And thanks for the tip, Nicos. I'd only thought about freezing the fruit and making the topping at the time of eating. But ready prepared topping sounds like a good idea.
Still bright and blue here. And a bit hot, to be honest. But I might have spoken too soon about the only good thing about no rain is no mushroom hunters. The forecast has changed and we're due thunderstorms every day for a week. And rain! My goodness. Followed by a bit more later in the month. Really hope Accuweather is more accurate than the others, which are only forecasting trifling amounts of rainfall.

Good night all.
Beautiful weather and a beautiful day.
Temp went up to 24 deg. What more could you ask on Sept 1st.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Morning everyone. Looks a bit cloudy here at the moment.
We are planning to go tot he allotment today o pick some more sloes and plant my rhubarb plants. Haven't been down for a week so will probably hoe some weeds that will of popped up.
Yesterday was busy sorting the kids out. Will got his hair cut then Hannah decided she needed hers trimming, more expense. But then we called into Wilko's and that was a very expensive shopping trip. Have bought all my onion sets though oh and some more seeds and some gloves for Hannah well the list goes on. It was all reduced stuff that I need
My kettle is on if anyone wants a drink.
Have a good day everyonesigpic

Good morning all.
Another beautiful sunny one.
Off to mass shortly and then all set to watch the all Ireland football final between Tyrone and Dublin.
This is the first time I haven't been there so I will have to settle for the t.v..
Have a good day all.

Good evening had a busy day today after church I decided to put some wooden edging round the rest of the back grass, this is to save having to use edging shears when I cut the grass, well it will save my OH from moaning because I don't use the edging shears and while lifting the turf I put some potatoes in buckets and filled them wither the turf, so hopping for potatoes in December (didn't say Christmas Nicos) got quite a bit done today but had to stop as the rain came on. Now I am for off to bed, , enjoy your week and smile. Goodnightit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
