I've been out and picked some more brown runner beans for seed saving. Still some more to come. While I was out, I noticed that my crystal lemon cucumber stem had withered so thought I might as well pick that too. Scooped the seeds out and they are much better than the earlier cucumber I picked. Definitely some viable seeds for the circle this time!
I've not done much else in the garden apart from a bit of watering. My aubergines are a completely different shape to the packet (round instead of long) but I don't think they are going to elongate so it may be time to start picking those. My chillies are ripening nicely in the sun room, even though the plants look very tatty.
I've spent some time making fudge this afternoon. I've not made fudge for at least three years and was never entirely happy with my old recipe so have tried a new one. It's chilling now so I can't be certain yet, but looking pretty good so far (the pan scrapings have been tasty!) It's for taking to work tomorrow in the hope that we have a better week.

Good evening all.
Didn't do anything in the garden except look out at it.
As I stood looking out a squirrel came up over the roof of the greenhouse, picked my tomato and sat on the wall eating it.
Never saw a squirrel in my garden before.
Hope so am not going to be inflicted with these pests.

Porridge for me this morning....
I made the mincemeat recipe again but with coconut oil instead of suet yesterday.
But dissapointed cos it just doesn't quite smell/taste the same (why would it?!)
Anyway, I added a wine glass af calvados (apple brandy)to it at the end (hic!) which vastly improved if!
But as it needed loads more cooking to reduce it down, it ended up turning into a sloppy mush
So...it does taste good but probably better used on porridge or mixing in with stewed apple or bread and butter pudding....more like a jam.
Suet next time
Hence porridge this morning!
Domestics for me today plus more apple stewing of the windfalls.
Hope to pick all the apples this week and store them.
Hope everyone is OK?"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Good morning all.
Dull and breezy here.
Domestics today so nothing exciting on the cards.
Have a good day all.

Looks like it's a day of domestics then!
I have 2roasting tins in the oven with mixed veg..and pastry ready to convert some of it into a quiche.
Also a pan of double quantities of boil on the hob cake ingredients ready to add flour and eggs once the veg are out of the oven
Ironing board set up and ready to ignore...... maybe
Feeling quite chuffed as it's not even midday!
Off to collect windfalls from yesterday's high winds...that should keep me busy for a while whilst I stew those down.
The sun is fabulous, just a bit too nippy just now to stay out in the garden.
See ya later peeps..."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
