If it gets too cold I can always take the chain saw to the furniture.
Snadge, our woodburner is only 4Kw and we had that installed really as insurance against winter power supply problems now that we live out in the sticks (at least compared to our city living experience). We've only really burned it to get rid of the new burn smell but goodness me, what a heat it puts out and it's more than sufficient for our lounge which if I remember properly is approx 16ft x 14ft. Happy toasting matey

Have to say I'm actually quite pleased with this haircut Flo!...I need some passport photos taking so I needed to look more presentable than usual!

I seem to have woken up with hayfever!...Great eh?
I tend to be affected most by spores so it looks like Hibou's cat flap(aka our bedroom window) may need to remain closed at night soon.

Yesterday we managed nearly 2hrs of woodsplitting some of our older wood into starter wood.
Still more to do but we're having 6cubic metres of wood delivered today...then hopefully the other 20 next week.
        That's a lot of stacking!
        Aching like crazy today
        Kettle's on...see ya later peeps...

        • Good morning all.
          Looks like an indoor day.
It's not what I planned but the weather has other ideas.
Black sky and rain lashing against the windows.
          So, domestics it is.
          Have a good day all.

And your hands begin to harden.

          • Mornings!
Lovely and sunny after some rain in the night, but it's quite windy with it - so a bit worried about the greenhouse windows. They've opened themselves because of the sun, but the wind is blowing directly at them

Giving my back a rest today so I've red pepper paste to finish off then, I don't know what....

            Have a good'un

            • Good evening, had to come on to the computer to check the weather for flying home tomorrow, as our daughter gave us a phone call today and her parting words were, well might see you sometime as some flights may be postponed due to the bad weather, checked up and everything is fine, she seems to have a wicked sense of humor, I think she must take it from her mother
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                    • Morning Flo and anyone else not fast asleep at this godforsaken hour.

Had a hard time nodding off last night due to joint pains and then got woken up by them around half five this morning. Work is going to be fun on three hours sleep!

Rainy here too (not so far from Flo) with strong winds expected later.

                        • Morning, all. Hope everyone's jolly today. It's Friday, so I am. Three jobs to send in today but hardly anyone gets in touch on a Friday, so that alone makes it feel almost like the weekend.

Weatherwise, things are looking grim. Still no rain to speak of despite all the flooding elsewhere in the world and Spain. Locals getting very worried. The forecast rain for September didn't come, nor October's. And from now on it's usually dry right through till early spring. Not a lot I can do but wait and see and hope. And keep up the paid work meanwhile.

So, that being said, better crack on. Have a lovely day, everyone. Keep warm, those of you who need to or want to.

We had very heavy rain yesterday evening...about 10 minutes after 6cubic metres of firewood was delivered. Managed to get it fully covered with a tarp literally seconds before the rains fell
Guess who will be helping with the stacking today?...but not a lot (back still a tad iffy).

Maybe some baking and seed sorting today....

                            • Morning everyone, a tad windy and grey here.
Yesterday was a lovely day, but it did rain later
Hubby has been busy painting and shoring up any fencing that may need it.
My first day off this week, so not doing much at all today
I have spent this week batch cooking for the freezer, so we won’t starve lol
                              Have a great day folks
