  • Evening all,

I spent the morning putting a dual grow tent together. un-necessarily complicated because the instruction sheet was totally misleading. The photo of the bottom section(shown as a separate piece) which was the first to go into place was in fact an inner "tray" and not the bottom section of the cabinet which was stitched to the rest of the outer skin . Once I got that resolved the rest fell into place. Looks like it's going to be a great piece of kit.

In the afternoon we visited my elderly aunt and this time I wasn't chastised for being late (when I wasn't). She did insist I ate a mint chocolate cream biccy though and I so didn't want it but hey ho .

Hopefully tomorrow I'll manage to get my spuds out of the ground. The weather of late has been truly awful with horizontal rain and gales. Fortunately not as bad as that being experienced by our friends in Wales. Hopefully the worst is over for them now but being flooded takes so long to recover from.

Now, where did I put my seed catalogues?

Edit note : A Dual grow tent seems to be one in which flowering plants and vegetables can be grown at the same time.

                    • good evening, it has been a nice day here today, after church we went to a GC for coffee, had a look round the place, there were some plants outside for sale but inside looked to see if there were any seeds on display but all you get now are lights or tinsel etc. though there was a stand with some bulbs for sale but if you want seeds you need to wait till about 30th December as it was such a nice day when we got back home I spent some time in the garden I filled one of the rubble bags with soil scattered a handful of 6x over the top and will now leave it for ten days or so and once the soil has settled down I will plant my garlic into it. I think I will go and read a book for a time , so pass on a smile and Snoop could the people that you smile at possibly be Welsh, if so there is a high probability they have come across VC, hence the funny looks
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

You'd better stop eating beans, AP.
Are you going to do the whole hydroponics thing?

As you can tell, I know nuffink about it.

                        • Hey rary, I smile at every one, especially the shelf stockers in the supermarket, 'cos then they pass me the yellow stickered stuff rather than to the grumpy, grabby ones.
Does anyone remember my yellow sticker bargains last weekend?

                          Thought not!!
I bought whole chickens reduced from £4 to 40p.
                          Seems I was overcharged.
This week I bought one reduced from £5 to 25p.
In total, I bought 47 items for £4.60. Is it any wonder I smile at everyone? Even the dogs smile when I feed then on 20p chicken fillets!!

Weighted tarpaulin over one pile (which I agree does look a bit unsightly) and carpet over the other pile until I get something more substantial and tidier built.
Well impressed with the mixed hardwood load. Tree surgeon was pointing out Larch,Oak,Beech,Cherry,Hawthorn,Ash etc but I am not that well versed enough to tell the difference. Been under cover for year and he recckons that's better than kiln dried which burns away quickly? (And is a lot more expensive)

What the heck do you do with 20 cubic metres Nicos?
The 20 metres is wood cut last winter so some is not weathered long enough to use just now.

Some wood (like oak) is better left to dry for a few years!
Some woods are better for starting, some for gently burning overnight.

We have two wood burners, one has an oven...we prefer to have the central heating ticking over and use the wood as a prime source if heat.
That should last us at least couple of years depending on how long and cold the winters are.
Two metres is a good start ...you're just getting addicted ! ...give it time

Vc, nope not doing any hydroponics stuff. I presently have a growbench with lights over but it is frightfully inefficient and expensive to run. This bit of kit addresses these downsides and has approximately the same growing area. In fact almost twice the same area if I grow on two levels but I would need to buy a second led growlamp to do that.
