  • Bright and blowy here today. A tiny amount of drizzle in the night (1 litre per square metre), enough for standing puddles to form seeing as the ground is so wet. Bit more rain forecast on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Just had breakfast: a tiny cup of lentil soup leftover from last night that wouldn't fit in the storage container to go in the fridge. I love lentil soup. In fact, it would make a sensible breakfast for me every day now I think of it.

Off out to a nearby post office to pick up yet another Amazon purchase. More notes to self: fewer Amazon shops, more soup. Anyone would think I was living in a first-world home, not a ramshackle ruin!

    Have a great day, everyone.

    • Mornings!
Grey and 8C now but very cold again last night down to zero Don't think I'll be plotting unless it brightens up/warms up a bit more...

I've been writing a 'festival' list and just noticed I'm treating the grandkids to mouse for their pudding. I'm sure they'll appreciate that

Have a good'un whatever you're up to this weekend

      • Talking of ruins Snoop I dreamt last night that I had the builders in and the house was falling down. I think I must have watched too many Grand Designs episodes lately

          • Wind and rain here today, we are watching the grandsons today, so took OH up to our daughter's then I want over to collect some seaweed, got 6 big bags, then I had to pickup my sons dog from the groomers, and after that take the guitar player for lessons, and once he was finished he said he needed to buy guitar strings, though he said, he might not have enough to pay for them, so I told him I would give him what he needed, the strings cost £7. he had £2. and I was stung for a fiver, there's shades of his Gran in him

              • This is a message to Cadalot. Your situation isn't unique or new. We moved to a new school in the early 60's which had an annexe. This was attached to the main building by a corridor on the ground floor. This meant that we sometimes had to run from the 3rd floor of the main building, through the ground floor corridor and up the stairs to the 3rd floor of the annexe. It wasn't supposed to be an annexe. It was a mistake made by the architects. I had the enormous pleasure of starting the demolition of that building.

                • Good evening, still raining with the occasional blast of wind, had been out in the greenhouse for a wee while but dont linger when the wind is a bit strong, came back in and OH was watching that dance program am I the only person that finds that program annoying with all the shouting and screaming that goes on all the gardening programs are off now but we still get that rubbish. Maybe VC is right I am getting old, though I dont know how she manages when she is so much older

                        • Mornings!

Turned warmer overnight and 13C already with a bit of sunshine now and again - that always makes things better
Off to get the paper and a bun in a mo - then a plot visit, more chatting rather than working, probably LOL

Lovely sunny start here to the day

Rary...the GR usually opens on a Friday towards the end of Nov/early Dec, depending upon demand.

Funnily enough I actually got the key out yesterday and gave it a polish!
Perhaps I should nip down and check it out...the wall paper was looking a bit worse for wear last time I looked....

Are we surprised after the antics that went on last time!

                              • Morning everyone. I was going to head out shoe shopping today as my only pair of vaguely smart shoes still rub badly despite multiple wears over the past four years. They're okay for a few hours, but I have a conference coming up and (with travelling time) will have to wear them for five days straight. No thank you!

Unfortunately, have woken up with a cracking headache and not sure I can face walking into town to peruse the very limited selection of shoe shops (which is how I ended up with the rubbish ones I already have). I think I'll just try the Wynsor's that's near my house and then try ordering some online if that gets me nowhere. The alternative is to make a foray to Meadowhell one evening but that is a last resort!!!
