  • Been a Dreich old day today, did a bit of tidying in the greenhouse now the smells gone from the J*yes fluid wash, dug up the last of the tatties(Roosters, nice spuds) and threw out the Honeyberry bush.
Rary if you need hill walking boots, don't the old fashioned leather ones, the new breathable/waterproof man mades are so much lighter and waaaaaay more comfortable(though they may not last as long), I had a pair of Brashers and they were purgatory to wear compared to the synthetic ones.

      • Evening all, long time no see, life has somewhat gotten in the way of the forum. Hope this finds you all well, obviously I've a lot to catch up on but just wanted to pop in and say hello!

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

          • Evening all, I also had a session in the greenhouse cleaning and then installing the staging ready for the onions and leeks.

It turned cold in the afternoon and I then sat myself in front of the computer spending money on seeds and stuff. Isn't stuff such an all consuming word .

            • Especially for Rary: are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin.

I used to have a shoe collection that consisted of one pair of what you'd call dress shoes, one pair of summer sandals, one pair of wellies, one pair of walking boots and one pair of slippers. I would buy a new pair of slippers every year because they're just about all I ever need. The other shoes last me for years and years because I hardly ever wear them. I prided myself on this small collection because it gave me brownie points over Mr Snoop, who has I don't know how many pairs. Literally no idea. Loads is the closest number I could give you.

Then... I bought a pair of secondhand shoes, so I had to start making decisions about which shoes to wear. And then my mum gave me several of her pairs of shoes that she can't wear any more. They're piled up to make it look like there aren't as many as there are, and Mr Snoop's stash still outstrips mine by a long way.

However, my only real point of shoe pride now is my current pair of croc-like shoes. Evidently not crocs, as they're well over three years old so the rubber must be much better quality. Since I've had them, I haven't bought a pair of slippers. I wear them indoors and out all year round. I wear them out for walking the dogs, I even wear them for digging occasionally, though I never own up to that to Mr Snoop, as he'd tell me off.

I should also add that this is much longer than I put in my original post. So I may be parsimonious with shoes, but I'm obviously not with words.

              Have a nice evening, everyone

              • I have a pair of hand made English shoes for best, hardly ever wear them as I'm too mean wear them out lol, apart from gardening boots, most of my shoes/boots cost several hundred pounds, even my fishing waders!! My bum might be hanging out of ripped trousers, but the shoes are always expensive.

                • Its great what info comes on the Vine, Snoops OH has a shoe collection to rival Imelda's and possibly Snoops getting to old not to have a good pair of slippers
and burnie must be a picture of sartorial elegance, with the a--e hanging out his trousers, but dig the shoes. (by dig I infer to look at, I would never go out to the garden with shoes of that price,,,well not where my OH could see me)
But I have found if you have a good pair of shoes they are worth every penny, and its not always the expensive or the new ones that are the best, as the saying goes, they are as comfortable as an old pair of boots

                  • I think I invented the fashion the kids all wear now of worn out Levis or Wranglers with holes in the knees etc, I carried this on all my life, much to many friends amusement. Until recently I had this old classic Aston Martin and would often be seen getting in and out of it with holes in my jeans. Someone suggested I looked like an eccentric millionaire rock star, I wish.

Dark and damp at tbe moment but the sun is beginning to rise to show a patchwork of clouds.

No idea what I shall be up to today as the OH has been muttering about gift shopping

                              • Morning all. Have woken up with a lovely sore throat and watery eyes. Oh happy days. Need to leave for work in 15 minutes but the motivation is lacking! I'd really rather curl up in bed and snooze for the rest of the morning. Hopefully will be one of those bugs that isn't as bad once you get going.

                                Just need to get going...
