  • Ha Thelma!
We had a cat which used to insist on climbing the Xmas tree...every year

When she got very old and had dementia she used to sit under it for hours with her nose touching one of the baubles . But only when the fairy lights were turned on!

Our first cat peed all over the presents the first year we had him.
Never could get any the smell of pee out of the cashmere scalf and leather gloves

        • Evening all, been a very cold day today, with sunshine all day.
Beautiful if you were indoors, which I was
We too are treating ourselves to a new fridge freezer for the garage.
Last January we were treating ourselves to hearing aids. Didn’t happen lol
          Have a good evening everyone

          • well in spite of the weather, we went out and treated a pal to breakfast at a local farm shop cafe. Afterwards we took a trip down the new Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (new bypass road). Absolutely brilliant. Cuts our journey time on a 40 mile journey by upwards of 20 minutes. It's not just the time, it's the fuel costs as well. It was actually good to see the number of HGV's on the road which will now not be sitting belching fumes in Aberdeen City whilst clogging up the city roads. Yes, I know they will still be belching fumes but if these wagons are saving the same journey times as us, that's a lot of emissions being reduced as well. This new road has just been too long in coming.

Anyhow, marzipan is on 2 cakes and the tree is now decorated, the bunting and lights are on the mantels.
Mollycat has already started batting at the baubles wonder how many times the tree will be over this year?
Thelma, when you get up tomorrow have your breakfast then have a shower he is sure to come to the door when you are standing enjoying a shower, well that seem to be how it works here

                    Late up this morning.
I did try to look for meteors last night but it ended up fairly hazey...and boy was it freeeezing
Sadly we have no windows pointing in that direction so couldn't even check from indoors.
                    Ergo....nadda.
                    Will try again tonight.

Woke up to an incredibly thick frost -4C outside brrrr....
                    Going to hunker down today.
Didn't quite get the curtains finished yesterday, so may try and do that.

Do need to finish off Xmas cards....
See ya later peeps...nearly weekend again!

                        • Good morning all.
A day out for me and my daughter.
Off to Belfast for some shopping and the Christmas market.
                          Have a good day all.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                          • Morning all, late on parade again.
Been making birthday cards for the charity shop, they are down to only four ......
Not intending to go anywhere today, it’s dull and cold out.
Might make the first list of food requirements for Christmas Day today. It’s creeping up quickly
                            Have a lovely day folks

                            • ^Maybe I should think about making cards. They don't do cards here and my Mum has been complaining abut how I never send any. The tradition here is giving out lottery tickets for the fat one (El Gordo) on 22 December. But I've never been into the lottery thing. When it was first introduced in Britain, I heard a man in Tesco's talk about it as "the devil's money" and it rather stuck in my head.

Chilly and grey here, but no rain forecast. Hard to believe it won't rain at some point today. Mr Snoop has just come in with a load of firewood, so I'm guessing the range will be relit very shortly. Hooray.

Just had my first food allergy. Sadly, a piece of panettone. Not had this reaction before (sore mouth and spots on gums), so hope I can eat other brands of panettone, as I love it. Look at that for an admission: panettone for breakfast and it's (relatively speaking) ages to the big day, so no excuse!

Right, on with the work. Have a great day everyone.

                              • Oh gosh Snoop!...have you worked out what it might be in the contents?
Different makes may not include that ingredient?
Could be worse...could have been alcohol!!!

In reality, it must be a bit of a worry now?

As for Xmas cards, I have the same problem, the French send New Years postcards.
                                Not the same is it????

Our friends and family tend to send emails with a piccie of something festive these days.
Any cards I do receive get kept Year on year as part of my decorations!!! ( just keep the prettiest ones!)

Reminds me of being a child when my parents had strings of them across the walls, down the sides of doors, covering the window sills.....
All set off beautifully with paper chains and those collapsible paper Chinese lanterns.
None of this shiny, glittery plastic stuff we find everywhere!

Wow...I just remembered how we had to be really, really careful getting the baubles out of the box. Each one wrapped in newspaper. Tiny shards of glass everywhere!
