I won some of the classes!!!!! I was shocked, and very happy!
sadly Mr HF did not get his cake placed.....it was so much fun, the guys cake section made the weekend one long laugh....They are still bickering and saying things like - "I was robbed", the judge must have been a heavy smoker! etc......boys ( we all got together last week (loads of us on our hols) and had coffee mornings enjoying each others cakes! Fantastic and can't wait for next year!
didn't you do a show too? how did it go?

I had THE most marvellous time too - already planning for next year....

I really did learn so much form this show...cant wait to have another go next year.... I must write down my notes on 'how to do better next time' and what I did this time that was ok.
There did seem to be a little unrest at our show, although taken in good heart I guess, there is a gentleman that is a market grower and grows all his veg in a polyT... he also grows exhibition stuff just for the shows....us 'grow to eats' cant get even close to his perfect veg! I think we need classes that reflect most peoples way of growing! ie in soil outside with the elements and bugs!
His veg are truly beautiful and it is great to have them at the show, but we should have separate classes. We are only a small village, and I think a lot of people see these wonderful veg, and give up without even entering for fear of ridicule. My veg went in holes and all, mainly to try and encourage others to enter! I did laugh at my very poor examples, but laughed even more when I beat some the best growers! tee hee
