Banners are Back

OK what the fug us happening to the forum recently I have to log in or at least click "What's New" before it recognises me and now the option to get rid of the annoying banners and margin adverts and pop ups etc is no longer at the bottom of the page to select!

Please fix don't make this forum un user friendly

Oh yes - the dev option is missing at the bottom - looks like they might have upgraded the vbulleting system:

At the very least the copyright notice has been updated
At least the backend databases seem intact - how are the photos?

Use a browser that supports ad blockers...

I may be barking up the wrong tree as latest vbulletin is at major version 5 - though there may be reason to stick with version 4.x.x (so I may be right )

I use an ad blocker and there are still ads for Carbon Gold down the side (at least they don't flash) and a large portion of the screen is taken up by a black bar along the bottom (at least that doesn't flash either). To be honest, I'd probably tolerate ads if they didn't flash or show video.

Snoop, you can block the side ads with adblock if you select them individually and the bar at the bottom usually has an "x" to close it .

Completely agree, I hate the forum like this! Too many moving ads! Giving me a headache because your eyes can't help but notice them.

The ads at the sides don't bother me, as they're surprisingly discreet. For the good of the site, I've left them. No X to close the black bar and Ad Blocker has no effect on it.

Lots of places you can get Adblock for Edge. The Microsoft store also offers it free. That might give you some kind of guarantee you won't get too much/any malware with it. Just so's you know, I didn't get it from Microsoft, can't remember where, and it was clean on arrival.

Is that the Black Bar with "Gardening Tool Catalogue" that refreshes every 5 seconds?
There's a Black Tab, roughly centre, above "OOL" with "X CLOSE".
Should make it disappear for a week or so.

EDIT Ignore that - it just bobs back up again on the next page.

Yes, same here Even on my laptop, it means I can only view one post at a time - what a load of rubbish that update was for us the users!

I clicked around in vain looking for a black "X" in the top left/right corners - gave up many moons ago... but it was there - "roughly centre"

Snoop there’s an x close in the middle at the top of the black bar,click it the ad disappears. Give us back our dev option these adverts are infringing on our human rights,in real life if people were in your face advertising like that you’d tell them where to go,we need that option!
