Hi Ya, I have been thinking of using black plastic to cover my beds in the winter due to the amount of weeds that survive and grow like mad. I will be starting a mainly no dig system so will manure the ground and cover it over winter. I have heard good reports about the use of the plastic. My quetion now is where do you buy your plastic? does it have to be black? Where have you found the best offer? Is damp proof plastic suitable? any advice on my future trial would be appreciated and do you cover your areas over winter? thanks to all

I put weed membrane over mine, keeps the weeds in check and allows water through

The plastic / material needs to be UV stabilised to stop it disintegrating year 2 or 3
