I think Nicos has been having probs too, could be a system compatibility thing, I had loads when Windows 10 was first installed, nearly as good as Windows 7 now...………….

Clicking "What's new" seems the site then remember me... I can live with that

I had that problem in March - Can't see how to link to the resolution I posted so here it is again.

Issue was caused by a shortcut www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine/forum.php which would load the page, but not log me in properly. i.e. Clicked "What's New" and looked ok.

the short cut would resolve to "http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine/forum.php"
Which is unsecure content.

I've changed the shortcut to
https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine/forum.php

This is an encrypted connection. Logs me on properly. It may resolve some issues for users getting the error "Only secure content is displayed"

Note https in front of address to indicate a secure encrypted connection

You will have to replace or edit book marks / favourites / shortcuts on desktop etc
