How did you do Eskimo? I am sure you did well!

I did really really well and was gutted to find that at the end of it I'd failed!

I was so shocked as I was convinced I was going to pass as I drove nicely and calmly, didn't get stressed, did perfect manouvers, that I can't even remember what the examiner said I was doing wrong but I think I have a problem with my left turns - taking them too wide but I'm not sure. Was in a bit of a daze yesterday so sorry for not letting you know.

Now got to find another £50 from somewhere to pay for the next test!

Why does it have to be so pricey!

Oh Eskymo!! What a shame and you drove so well. Not to worry, next time you know what to expect so it should be much easier.

Esky, I failed my test the first time. Had a really stressful morning (started with me losing my provisional license and having to get a lift to I can't remember where to get an emergency replacement. Not surprisingly I was completely stressed out when I got to my test and had so many marks the paper was nearly completely black!

BUT, I retook my test just over a week later and passed with only 3 minor marks. I felt so much better the second time - much more aware of everything and I knew what to expect, so I expect everything will be fine next time.

Ah Esk - what a shame! Never to mind, I am sure next time will go ok - you can't give up! You need to drive a car! It is such fun to be able to get from A to B without having to ask anyone!

What can I say - I'm gutted for you mate , but don't let it get you down - suggest you do what Shortie did and get a resit at your earliest convenience - you'll breeze it next time . You could contact the examination centre as they should be able to go over the faults that you were marked down on with you - forewarned is forearmed

When I called this morning the earliset test date available was the 4th August! 6 weeks from now! I was so angry, but had to book it as there was no alternative. I've been fuming all day for having to wait so long, then I was advised to check the site for cancellations and managed to change the date to the 20th July which is better. I will keep on checking the DSA site and see if I can move it forward some more, so I still need you all to keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Good luck for your next test Eskymo. If you could have seen me the first time I sat my test. I was so steamed up I was beetroot and the windows in the car were so steamed up (from me) that I couldn't see out! You'll be fine next time. Let's know how you are getting on.

                    Hi Eskymo,
I was so nervous about my first test that I told everyone it was a week later than it actually was, so I wouldn't have people asking me how it went immediately after the test!

Don't worry, lots of good drivers pass second time around. We're all rooting for you!

Hey Eskymo, keep trying. I failed 1st time too. After about 5mins in when a lovely white van man cut me up on a roundabout. Examiner panicked, shouted "braaaaake!" and hit the dual control (obviously I had it covered though!). I asked him if I'd failed and he said I either had to do the whole test or had to abandon it before finding out. Was tempted to continue but knew I'd failed, meant he had to leave the vehicle and walk back to the test centre. I had to sit in the car and wait for my instructor to come and collect me. As awful as I felt for making my instructor walk to collect me, I can't help but feel a little glee that the examiner had to take a hike!

Passed 2nd time, got a test date on a Saturday when the football was on, road as clear as you like, no white van men

P.S My experience wasn't that bad, someone else I know wrote her car off on her test!

managed to get an earlier test date via a cancellation and was told that I could change the date one more time, so will keep checking to try and get something sooner. I've also written to the DSA asking for the written report the examiner will have written up about my fail after the test, so when I get that I will definitely know what I did wrong...so feeling really positive about it now. Thanks for all your lovely comments and support...it's helped boost my confidence no end!

Oh Eskymo - better luck next time - all the best pass 2nd time! I failed my 1st time and I thought I'd done brilliantly - I passed second time when I was convinced I'd failed! If it is any concellation you are probably driving better now than anyone who has already passed their test, I guarentee I'd probably fail now if I ever had to retake it!

Same here Sunbeam. I've picked up so many bad habits now, I'd hate to have to retake my test.

The worst thing drivers do is not signal....especially on roundabouts! I haven't got used to looking at drivers faces or the direction the wheels are turning yet and so rely on flashing indicators, but nowadays no-one seems to indicate anymore unless they're a learner driver...well I'm talking about Kirkcaldy here and not wanting to acuse anyone on the forum of misconduct!
