I need to find out information about native british hedges and what plants/shrubs/bushes can be used to create a "native-looking" hedge.

Does anyone have any links, or websites about hedging/hedges?

It's to do with next door planning permissions and I'm trying to research hedging and sustainability and fight the fact they want to plant about 20m of conifers and leylandii at the bottom of our garden

    Thanks!

Hi O.W.G., you might find this list of plants for native hedges of use.
    http://www.ecotreecare.co.uk/native_...ting_guide.htm
& this BBC one about planting native trees & hedges for wildlife. Hope you get it sorted out & don't have to sit & look at a massive conifer hedge for ever!

There must be information available. The farmer at the bottom of our lane was required to plant a NATIVE species hedge as a screen for his Factory chicken production. Hope you can find some help.

If you look in the weekly grdening press there's a company there who sells mixed native hedging can't remember the name I'm afraid.

The best I have found is http://www.crown-nursery.co.uk/ who sell native mix hedging and have a downloadable price list with advice on quantities. Hope this helps.

                Copper is perhaps rather traceable.

                    Wow! Thanks guys

                    What a raft of information...

We'll be contacting the council with the information rather than our nieghbours, as it's a planning application issue.

I'd really like a hedge with edible elements in it, more useful for me!
