My mum tells me that there's likely to be hose-pipe ban in her part of the country and she's a bit distressed about it. She's asked me and, seeing as I know nothing about these things, I'm asking you.
She's 82, blue-badge holder and gets full attendance allowance. She has 20 or so plants in pots up round the back of the house, if I recall rightly about 10 inches across the top, some smaller and two that are quite a bit bigger. A lot of the plants were bought this year, but some date back to when my Dad was alive and some were bought in his memory. So she's keen to keep them alive.
She thinks that if a ban were imposed, she would be allowed to water them with a watering can but obviously, given her age and difficulty getting about, she can't wield one any more. She has a hose pipe with a rose that switches the water on and off between pots.
Will she be allowed to use it on her potted plants? The rest of the garden is not watered in any way at all (she has a gardener come in to keep it tidy so the neighbours don't have to look at a sprawling mess, but no watering is done).
Any and all advice welcome. She has very nice neighbours on either side. She's in a semi-detached house and the houses on either side can see into her garden. I've suggested she talk to them, but she's nervous about doing so for whatever reason.
