With the centenary coming to a close this year I was wondering whether there were many Grapes researching and remembering their ancestors who served and / or gave their lives for our freedom.
Personally I am researching my grandfather (served latterly with RWF), his cousin (served RGA), my great grandfather (served in the ranks in the West Yorks and was commissioned into the Lancs Fusiliers!) all who survived and my great great uncle (served in the Leicesters and was KIA in 1918 aged 18), my friend's grandfather (served in Essex and MGC, died 25/12/1916) and her great uncle (killed aboard a trawler that hit a mine in 1915).
No family medals from the era survived in the family sadly.
