Turmeric ?
Something along the ginger/turmeric rhizome appearance. Just doesn't look right for Ginger, equally the Turmeric I have seen is smaller and ruddier in appearance.Comment

Well it looks like a sweet potato to me. definitely not ginger, Kirk, ginger is far more refined and graceful when it starts to sprout. At least mine was. Neat little bud that became an elegant long green shoot, and no hairy legs till I gave it some soil to root into.
