I've got a £50 e-voucher to spend via Crocus and am thinking of spending it on a pair of secateurs. I'd always thought about getting some Felco ones but I think they're a bit overpriced and I'm not sure whether their quality has gone downhill over time. I've heard that some gardeners favour the Japanese ones, but I'm not sure how to go about testing them. I've seen a few in GCs but they're all in packaging that you can't test them out. I'm a female with small hands, y'see and it's very important to find the right pair if I'm investing in ££s in them!!

I have two pairs of Gardena, anvil and bypass. They both have an adjustment on them for hand size. Had them a long time so not sure of the price.Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. Lou Erickson, critic and poet

I have some Felcos ( no 2? I think) I got them about 17 years ago when I started a floristry course. I probably use them every day between March - November and also several days through the winter ...lots while cutting greenery for xmas!
If I lost these I would go out and get another pair within days - not over priced and worth every penny.

Felco also will service their secateurs. Looks like you get practically new ones for £25!
"The cost is £25.00 per pair which includes return postage, any replacement nuts, bolts, springs, handles, blades, etc. and VAT."https://www.worldoffelco.co.uk/servicingRiddlesdown (S Croydon)

I usually use rolcut secateurs, bought second-hand I wouldn't look to pay more than £5 for them - I find they are easy to take to pieces and so refurbish and sharpen - generally get them at car boot sales and have about 6 pairs now as I'm a bit absent minded :-)
I'd use the Crocus voucher for plants :-)

I have a pair of Felcos that I won on here about a hundred years ago. They have been really good and I can highly recommend them but I recently bought a pair from Lidl (probably can't use your voucher there ) but they were very good too.A garden is a lovesome thing, God wot! (Thomas Edward Brown)
