  • Deep fryer

Looking at replacing our deep fat fryer shortly - probably as a crimbo pressie from the in-laws.

anyone got any recommendations for one that is easy to chuck in the dishwasher! Has to be quite large to fry chippies for four of us.

Magimix. Apart from the element, the whole lot can go in the dishwasher.

You don't have to empty the oil out after every fry-up.

The only reservation is your need for a fryer large enough to fry enough chips for four. I suppose it depends on the size of portions you eat!!

Sorry, don't really eat chips and for the odd occaision we do, I just go to the chippy.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks for the responses folks. Guess it will be another dose of retail hell trying to find the right one. We have a DeLonghi rotofrier at the moment which is brilliant but a pain to clean.

We only have a mobile chippy visit the village on a Wednesday between about 4.00 p.m. and 6.00p.m., so to get them any other day of the week would entail about a 10 mile round trip by car.

Chips is our least favourite form of potato. We use the fryer for a lot of other things.

How funny - I fancied chips tonight to go with our gammon! And as much as they are convenient, I don't like oven chips... and sometimes chipshop chips are soggy, so I have just been out and brought a deep-fat fryer! I have owned one before... just went with the cheapest in Sainsbury's at the time - £25 breval. Plugged in, ready to go in the shed! (Don't like fat smells in my kitchen ).

Shall let you know how we get on with it! I hate cleaning them, hence the fact I haven't owned one for years! Today was a whim!

I also use mine for lots of stuff as well as chips, hence wanting one which is easier to clean after doing beer battered onions, fish etc and dougnuts, onion bhajis. Each time I do those things I need to clean the whole thing out and it takes ages. Thought that one that came to bits and went in the dishwasher would be a plus.

Jan, sorry if my thread made you fancy chips! I also hate oven chips - they just aren't the same as home fried.

Don't buy it - I plugged it in to try it earlier. Just plugged it in again to cook and it doesn't work!!!

The lid keeps popping up too!

                Rubbish!
would rush to Sainsbury's for a replacement but have had a drink not sure what to do now for dinner lol

A tasty alternative is to chop spuds into big chips, put in a freezer bag or similar with a bit of olive oil and some garlic, pepper, whatever you like and shake till well covered. Spread round a roasting tray and roast in a hot oven till done - bout a half hour or so as I recall
